Why I retired to SC
I grew up in Menomonie WI. Grad HS in 1949. Joined the Navy in 1951. The day I went on the troop train to Great Lakes Naval Training Center Menomonie set the record cold for that date for the nation-- minus 54 degrees F. After getting my 4 years in, worked in Arizona, Virginia and Florida; retired to the Blue Ridge Mts of North Carolina for 13 years before moving to Greenville area of SC for better doctors. We still come back to visit family in Sand Creek, Superior, Red Wing MN and a few others, but never, never in the snow season.

Re: Make it easy to find one another - Introduce yourself here..
Born in Oshkosh, lived on a farm in the Winchester area just until 8 yrs old! Then off to Menasha for grade school, Neenah until graduation (class of '76), out of state for a bit, then back to Oshkosh, then New London, then Appleton......then High Cliff (Sherwood) until I relocated permantly to Nashville, then....(whew) Florida!
My plan in life was always to live on the beach at some point. I am not DIRECTLY on the beach, but I am on the Soundside Mainland of a peninsula facing the "island", the "beach". Beautiful views.
I try to come back to visit, but haven't since evacuating for Hurricane Ivan in '04.
Maybe next spring when the snow melts.
Still have 2 brothers, some cousins and lots of friends up in WI. They usually come HERE though!
I sure miss Wisconsin, but I couldn't survive the weather. I'm a weather weinie.

Weather in WI has been crazy this year! Jefferson is still flooded. So if Fort Atkinson in areas. To get anywhere you are still going way out of your way to travel around all the detours
