Learn to Ride the Wind! For less than $200 for the whole year.
Come join the Hoofer Sailing Club at the Wisconsin Union in Madison, which is open to everybody when they join the Wisconsin Union for at least 6 months. Join by end of April, and save $35. You don't need to be a student to join. In fact, most of our members are not students. Sailing is for everybody! You can start out learning the infamous Badger Tech Dinghy, progressing quickly to daysailors for the whole family; or you can start out on windsurfers, which are easier to learn than ever before due to design improvements; or you can begin by learning to crew and eventually become a skipper of a big keelboat, like our cow boat on the Wisco highway map!

Parking is free all weekend long near the Wisconsin Union in Lot 34 on the UW-Madison campus. Cheap sublets can be found in Madison nearby, and there is always a concert on the lakefront at the boathouse after a day and evening of sailing. This should be the summer you finally do something fun in the sun (and rain too for the hardcore sailors)! All ages are welcome. We have members from 18 to 88. Membership rates may go up at the end of April, so sign up early, and sail often with unlimited lessons and boat use once certified. We begin sailing in April, so sign up and come on down and help out. There is no better deal on Earth. If you dream of owning your own boat someday, this is the best training you can get.
People join for socials we have on Fridays on Lake Mendota's shore, and we frequently do dinner, breakfast and moonlight sails, among other ideas we get from time to time. Look for more info on our website.
And if you have a boat to donate of any kind and any size, please contact us. We accept donations of boats, tools and any other supplies as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We also need more volunteer instructors all the time to keep lessons plentiful and cheap for members, so please offer to volunteer teach if you are capable and able, even if an application deadline might have passed. And we always need volunteers to maintain and fix equipment of all sorts. If you have a keelboat too, especially a larger one, we can offer a great home for it for many years to come. :P
