as time goes by
we all begin and end in the same way
what happens inbewteen
and how we respond differs
done in our own way
but the bookends of life become our bond
what we have in common
is what carries us on
as you followed the path of life
and seen the ups and downs
have you learned those lessons
or will they come back around
and of those values that hit you just in time
was hope,faith,trust or love
that made the difference in how your trail unwinds
share with me your past
and how you have come to be this way
what inspired your acts
and behave like you do today
did you do some thing that now you regret
did you give more than you get
could anyone simply say
I am so glad he came my way
what trips your trigger
what floats your boat
did it make you happy
did it make you gloat
what was it that inspires you
was it a song, a movie,a play
or just the morning news
is revenge sweet
does it smell like success
or did it make you feel guilty and not so neat
or did you feel empty and have you second guess
did you learn from life's trials
or were they just a pain
leaving you in anguish and distain
what would you repeat
what would you not
what seemed to fit
And what did not
did a movie make you stop to think
did you break the lines to communicate
or did you create a link
did your moarals keep you strong and true
or did the law of the land
maintain your point view
did you follow a line
tote that bail
or is wandering part of your private tale
tell me your story
sing me your song
did you get angry
or just try to get along
I am with you today
but then I may not be long
for tommorrow is long way
and I may have seen my last dawn
