Are you also an artist or are you just doing scripts?
Me, I tend to write political rants... er... columns, and prose which is heavy on atmosphere. Sometimes (usually) the two kind of blend together.

I do drawings for the comics, but I'm not that great at it. When I make it big (hopefully), I will probably have someone draw them for me.

Rob -
Are you hoping to make it to one of the larger companies, like Marvel?
I've got a couple graphic novels plotted out using photos, based in the world of Obsidian, and I've got about a third of the pics I need, but I never have time to work on them! We ended up using a bunch of the pictures as cutouts in the playtest materials my friends and I put together for the live action version of Obsidian (you can see them here http://www.twilight-games.com/obsidian.shtml), but I never have time to work on my own projects, so I don't know that I'll ever finish them. I figure as long as I have fun working on them, it doesn't really matter if they're ever done.
Do you have any already finished?

I'm hoping to start my own comic company, with the help of others. Marvel is based out of New York, and I'm not a big fan of travelling.
The comics are far from finished. I have some stories for characters, but not a ton.

Anyone else write anything?
I would guess that I have 100 (or close to it) characters for my comic company. Most of them have origins (how they got their powers, their past, etc), but not all do.
I would post them here, but you never know when someone could take it for themself. I'm planning to copyright some of them at least, someday.
I'm also planning to do a pro wrestling book, website book, game show book and more.
I have plenty of ideas, but I'm not sure which to start with. I'm leaning towards wrestling, since I know alot about that (compared to the other subjects).

I write sarcastic anecdotes. I don't plan on publishing anything, but I hope what remains of my writing in a hundred years may be an entertaining glimpse of life today. I enjoy reading David Sedaris, Henry Rollins, Laura Ingalls Wilder and others who have taken the time to record their lives. I guess what I read has influenced what I write.

I have always wanted to write a book, I have even laid it out and have have a folder on my computer set aside for it, but I just don't have the time to dedicate to it I guess. The book outline is set in the early 1700's and is very loosely based on a realistic version of The Swiss Family Robinson, but it is not based on a single family, but a small group stranded in the Pacific Northwest. Some day I hope to have the time needed to make this happen.
My blog does give me the chance to write, it is what I call my personal editorial page, where I can comment on anything that interests me.

Writing is just a hobby for me. I don't feel that publishing is selling out in any way, I'm just not interested.

What I write
I write a variety of things, mostly based on life expereinces. I help other people write their biographies, resumes, business cards, brochures and a variety of othere things they need as well--that's just a sideline business. (Lately, I have been spending a lot of time writing press releases for groups; not really something that pays.) It seems that I spend more time helping others write than I do for myself. I have a couple of songs that I have written also and most recently am working on my autobiography. My life story has many pieces that would make great stand-alone articles for magazines and/or columns in newspapers. Unfortunately, even with a dozen or so years of experience writing for local newspaers, I don't know how to get these pieces published or how to approach a paper to get to run the columns--and get paid for them! The second part is the most tricky. I don't seem to find myself sending those query letters; maybe it's that fear of success as much as it is a fear of rejection. (Any ideas or connections, I'd love to hear them.)
In the meantime, I will continue to write for fun.

hey, i see that a few of you are into comics too. awesome. if you guys need to work on anything for a portfolio, i would love to have a promo comic made out of a portion from my fantasy novel...
anyhow, i recently published a fantasy novel (you can check out the book at www.thekakosrealm.com) and have written some other short works. one is a short drama about a hell's angel biker, i have a comedic satire story that mocks myself and other gamers and fantasy fans, i also have a sci-fi (space opera) short story, currently up for review at betterfiction.com

i don't reed
nor do I right
what I have to say
maybe my plight
what i may have spoken today
lingers on after i go away
what maybe etched in stone
i may someday have to pay atone
the rightious always
have the right words
but to me they are
nouns, adjectives and verbs
a string of thoughts
a verse that rhymes
were they meant for now
or some other time
were they ment to amuse
or end an argument
to disfuse
were those words
an encouraging thought
made to dispell dread and naught
i don't reed
and don't I right
cause they just may
cause a fight

Writting
I did some writing in college, and am now just getting back into it. I have started on one idea, and will see how it turns out. I guess what inspired me, is that I read a few books that were best sellers, and I feel I could do better. I have several story lines running thru my mind, and I just need to get these voices out of my head first. One story is about a guy who goes fishing, and finds a key. After much searching, he finds it fits the backdoor of the bank. He grabs all the loot, and buys a submarine, and invites all his friends over, and they cruise around being pirates. Thats it for now. 8O
