The Holidays are Here!
I'm in a sharing mood today and I know that there are alot of people out there that have a harder time getting into the Holiday Spirit...this is for you!
It is so true that the Holidays have become way too commercialized and that many times, the true meaning of Christmas gets lost in the process. Some people look forward to Christmas with great excitement and anticipation, just as they did when they were a child. But for some, who have experienced life with both love and loss, it may not be so easy. Losing something very precious to you can dim the way you look at life..but it does not have to be that way. You know the old saying...It is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all...or... Don't cry because it's over - Smile because it happened! Outlook and attitude have a great deal to do with one's perception of life. I learned this from a very special young man, my son, Sammy Jo...to him, this is dedicated. I hope you enjoy it and that it inspires you to get out and enjoy the Holiday Season..find a way to give of yourself and you will find a new inner strength and start living to live, and living to love again!
Present of Life
Dedicated to Samuel Joseph...
August 18, 1985 to September 2, 2002
So many thoughts spent on death that torments a soul,
Interferes with the life that was meant to unfold.
Each day, just a second in eternity, passes on by
With so much time wasted on wondering why.
Cinderella tales of happy ever after
Actually turn into chapters of when life happens.
Princes and princesses sometimes do die young.
Untold stories are never written, are never sung.
It is an unnatural thing for a parent
To bury their own child,
In a generation where most of us live in denial.
Life is pretentiously happy and sweet
And there's not really a sick child living on every street.
But a mother that holds her dying child so near
Knows the reality and conquers the fear.
Life, like her little one, becomes precious and sweet
As does every moment, every breath, and each heartbeat.
She knows that along with the joys is certain to be strife,
And she learns that death is certainly a part of life.
Never again will she take life for granted
Or waste time worrying about what might happen.
When the day comes and the loss is great,
She'll find comfort in knowing that she faced her fate
Not wasting away precious moments and seconds,
But enjoying the life while it was in the present.
