I have walked the path
that many before me have done
the numbers may be a million
or it may have been only one
from shatered earthenware
to the displaced and broken stones
in the land of the sun
in the land they called their home
their shelter was built with materials
that were close by
it protected them from the sun
when it rained it kept them dry
the sun brightened their day
the stars were guiding lights
both provided then with direction
when they wandered out of sight
they marked the time with sun and stars
the seasons they did know
when sow and when to reap
and when to stay at home
They cared for each other
and never felt alone
none ever had a need
for greed was never known
to carry on tradition
they shared stories at night
tales filled with life lessons
and how they survived a plight
their life was the family
the family was their life
each memeber had a job to do
and do it was so right
so if you walk in the place
where they once did roam
do not disturb or desecrate
for it is still their home
