I briefly owned a 150cc Yamaha as a kid.. never got to ride it as the motor was froze up and we ended up junking it.
Truth be told, motorcycle riding is a bit scary to me.. as an adult, I'd like to own one because they can be more economical than a car, but I'd hate to have a wreck on one.
I've only ridden on one as a passenger about 3 times in my life. I will never go on one again just because there are too many nuts on the road and deer. I've seen or heard of too many accidents. I'm just too chicken to ever get on one again.
As I have said on other posts, I use to ride many years ago but decided to give it up to have a family. I felt a family was more important then to ride and take unnecessary risks when children depended on having a 'Mom'.
Later I had several people very close to be die and one lose his leg in an accident that if he was in a car he would most likely have just walked away. Instead he lost a leg that landed way into a corn field after he was side swiped on a curved road. The two that died both could have survived if they were in a car. One hit a pot hole and lost control and the other had someone pull out in front of him and he hit the car and bounced his head off the pavement. So sad that people just do not understand how there is nothing that surrounds them to give any safety when riding a motorcycle.

My husband knows the girl that was in that motorcycle accident recently. You may have heard in the news. It was caused by a drunk driver. The two on the motorcycle are lucky to be alive. The guy lost his leg and the girl has all kinds of broken bones. In this case you can blame the drunk in the car, not the motorcyclist.
Yet there are people that ride for years without any accidents. Just have to be careful and hope that some jerk doesn't plow into you.
Accidents can happen no matter what vehicle you drive.. the point is to drive defensively. The worst feature of riding a motorcycle is the lack of any real protection. I've been witness to two really severe motorcycle accidents and while I'd like to own one for economy's sake, I'm also leery of actually riding one.
