Dog Lover? What's Your Favorite Breed?

Not to slight the cat lovers amongst us, but for theBubbler members that own or love dogs, what's you favorite breed?

Big dog? Small dog? Hunting dog? Show dog? What kind of dog do you have? How long have you had it? Was it love at first sight?

I've owned many different kinds of dogs.. my family owned a kennel in the 60's and we showed Weimaraners during that period and I love that breed. My last dog actually belonged to a girlfriend.. he was a Shih-Tzu.. never really cared for small dogs before him but he was a real gem! I miss that dog!

I prefer medium to large dogs. I don't care for the yappy little bark of the small dogs, but then again there are some real cuties that are small. I like dalmations and Australian blue heelers. Irish setters are a nice looking dog. I find cavalier King Charles spaniels to be cute as well as springer spaniels. My coworker has a wheaton terrier that is such a cutie and he doesn't shed.

As far as cuteness of smaller dogs, I like Jack Russel terriers, chihuahuas, wiener dogs, papillons and yorkies.

I don't care for the bull dogs, Boston terriers or pugs. Nothing to do with their personalities, just don't like the looks of them.

My dog was 18 yrs, 10 months old when he died...... since then I foster one dog at a time thru the Twig Project.

When I was a kid my parents raised poodles for a while. We also had a standard poodle as a family pet.

When I was first married we bought a schunezer. We had him for years and he was a real cutie. We then owned many different kinds through the years. One that we had for a while was a wolf/husky that was beautiful but we had to give him up when we moved.

My 2 favorite dogs ever was a tiny toy poodle named Pepin that I took everywhere even on a 5,000 mile camping trip. The other fav was a tiny toy pomeranian that was just an adorable little dog. I also had a really good Golden Retriever.

We had 2 boxers at different times and as much as I like the look of a boxer I hope never to have to live with one again. They are hard to train if next to impossible, stubborn, crazy, and defiant when they want to be..did I say hard to train? lol

Right now I would gladly say that I could live the rest of my life with just cats. Dogs have been fun through the years but way to much work. Give me a cat and I will show you a true, easy, pet.

I too prefer medium to large dogs. Since I was a baby, we always had dogs and were part of the family, sleeping with us in bed etc! Right now we only have a spaniel mix, she is a great wild dog and sleeps every night with my oldest daughter!

Theres nothing like a Schipperke. We have had them for years and love them. They are giants in little bodies.

Someone I know has a wheaten terrier and he's a real cutie. Looks like a fluffy teddy bear. This one is still a pup yet and loves attention. They don't shed either.
