If you're single, what is your favorite way to spend a first date? Married or otherwise involved couples, how did you and your current partner spend your first date? How did you meet? How long have you been together?
My second husband and I still laugh at how we actually met. I was separated from my first husband and decided to go out dancing with some friends. This guy came up to me and after barely talking he ended up pushing me into the wall and giving me a kiss. lol Not sure if that was how I would have thought a first meeting should take place but I knew I would marry him someday. lol Took about 7-8 years after that but we did get married.
We never really 'dated' until after getting married and having 2 kids (besides my 2 older children). Then Saturday nights became our 'date' nights and for years we had fun going all over checking out new restaurants to eat at, or in the summer going to concerts, taking walks, going to lots of antique stores, whatever we wanted to do on our 'date'.

I don't even remember what our first official first date was for my husband and me. We knew each other for half a year before we dated. I was dating someone else at the time and wasn't interested. Then I broke up with the mama's boy I was dating and was after someone else and boy, was he good looking. Too bad he was still hung up on his ex-GF. Then I noticed my future husband had gotten a crush on me, but I still wasn't interested beyond being friends. Not sure at what point I changed my mind, probably after we spent a long time talking at the bar we both hung out at. One night I had gotten out of work early and ended up going to the bar alone hoping to run into someone I knew. Ran into a couple girls from high school and my future hubby was there. We talked a lot that night, ended up slow dancing to some Brian Adams song. Then it was bar time and we stood outside without jackets and it was getting a bit chilly. Hubby kissed me in the parking lot and then after about an hour or so we went home (not together lol).
The next day I woke up aching all over, pounding sinus headache, sore throat and dragging my butt, I was so drained. Yep, caught a nasty cold just like that. I had to call in sick to work. Of course, the supervisor accused me of being hungover and even though I felt like crap, she still expected me to wait on tables (I was a waitress back then). I told her I had drank soda all night, but she didn't believe me. I did have to drive my parents' car home that night, so I was being careful. I did finally get out of working. Gawd, I hate being accused of something that isn't true. What if I had called in on a Wed.? Would I get the same reaction from the boss?
My husband and I might have gone to the movie on our first official date where he actually asked me out and we went some place together. Couldn't tell you what movie it was since that was so long ago.
People would ask us for a long time how we met. We both knew it was at the bar we hung out at, but couldn't quite place the exact time we met. Nothing really stood out. My husband had gone to high school with one of my former friends, that is how we started talking in the beginning. We had to think about it for a long time, but eventually came up with Halloween night right before bar time. I was with my 2 friends and the 3 of us had gone as McD's fries, Big Mac and a shake. I was the Big Mac and had a little sign on my lower back that said, "Do you like my buns?" I think my friends and I started talking to future hubby on the way out the door. Maybe he liked my sign lol.
We've been married for 20 years coming this August.
My 1st date with my wife was the cheap seats movie theater. I told her I would buy the movie tickets and she could buy the popcorn and sodas.
I was unemployed at the time. The movie tickets were $1.00 each and the popcorn and soda was $15.00 {8^) but hey she stayed with me and eventually we married.
...Them's got ears, let them hear
Them's got eyes, let them see
Turn your eyes to the lord of the skies
Take this airline plane
It'll take you home again
My husband took me to Mountian Lake in Virginia on our first date, it is where the movie Dirty Dancing was filmed. I got to dance in the gazebo, see the cabin that Johnny stayed in, and see where they practiced the lift. Had a great time there.
Keith, are you like my husband and talk during every movie? This is both at home and at the theater. Drives me nuts at the theater, but at home I don't care. I just don't want others to hear him talking and ruin it for them.
My family had just moved to a new school district at the beginning of my sophomore year in high school and that is where I met my husband. Our first date was the "Snowball Dance". He asked me to go with him but I had to get permission from my parents since I was only 15 and wasn't supposed to date for another year. First I had to ask him his name because I didn't know who he was and then I had to ask about him around school to find out if he had a bad reputation or anything. Since he was also only 15, we rode with another couple on our "first date". So....we went to the dance, dated through high school and got married a year after graduation. Next month will be our 31st anniversary.

I hate it when people talk at the movies! That's why they don't make a good first date.
My last first date was go-karts and batting cages then dinner out.
I am single & dating & the worst thing to do on a first date is movies or concert... why oh why do you want to spend your first date NOT talking??? If i'm invited to a movie or concert as a first date i'll let him know that I feel it's a bad first date idea & how about lunch?
I had a first date this past weekend & we went to lunch then walked over to the park accross the street, walked the trail & talked a lot... that was a great way to spend a first date IMO
I agree... you definitely need an environment where you can talk the first date... tho I'll rarely go out with anyone I haven't already talked to alot first.

True, i know enough about the person to accept a date. Usually i'll get asked out by people i meet through friends, therefore i get a BIG scoop before going out (from the friends and general convo with him), but the inside scoop comes into play during the first few dates, so we need an environment where we can talk.
