What's Your Favorite Holiday Or Special Occasion?

I've always loved holidays.. just about any holiday! I love the passing of the old and into the new with New Year's, the sparkle of the Fourth of July, the smell of pine and twinkling lights on Christmas.. what's your favorite holiday or special occasion?

I love to share. I love to give so Christmas has to rank as my number one favorite holiday! I love having a real tree with the smell of pine, twinkling lights, and watching the reflections on the ornaments.

Fourth of July.

Middle of great summer weather, festivals, fireworks, food, music, beer, great scenery

and more!

Even better yet, my birthday falls around that time. It's July 2 and it's like having the biggest birthday celebration of all. It's like having everyone celebrate with you and with all the things going on, the celebration can last for days.

I love Halloween the most. I'm big into making dressing up on Halloween and competing for a prize. I love all the decorations they come up with. It's all about fun and not about spending money on gifts like Christmas is. To me dressing in costume is fun because you get to be someone else for a day. You can't do that the rest of the year without getting strange looks hahaha.

Veterans Day...or Easter Sunday, or April 25th.
Those that serve to keep the rest of us safe deserve a special day.

Easter marks a new beginning. Spring solstice, everything is waking up after a long winter's slumber.

April 25 is the Feast Day of St. Mark. I consider it to be my personal day. I take the day off, and share a gracious greeting with those that are least suspecting.

I don't have a favorite, i dont care much for holidays, however if i had to pick one it would be 4th of July, no greedy concept, not costly with gifts & what not, plus it's mid summer and 1 week exactly before my birthday so that was always kinda cool when i was younger & didn't mind birthdays so much

Hm, sometimes I'm not sure what it is I practice.. whatever it is, I don't think I'm very good at it!

Halloween is my all time favorite holiday too! I love decorating my front porch like a dungeon and every year I add something new to it. We have more kids come here than what go to the other houses because they like to see our decorations.

I also dress up and go out to costume contests and I usually make my own costumes for that. Many years back, we made Old Style beer can costumes and went as a six pack and won first place at the Country Club. A couple years ago I went as a lady sitting on a toilet. I made the toilet out of wire and paper mache and painted it. Then I added a real flush handle and stuck a kleenex box on the tank and carried a plunger. I had fake legs hanging down the front (made from stuffed nylons) with panties around the ankles. I won for most creative costume that time. LOL I also made costumes for my kids when they were little. One year they went as a can of Sprite and a can of 7 Up.

Oh, my second favorite holiday is the Fourth of July. Mainly because it's my birthday and my BIL's too, so they have a big party at their house every year and invite tons of family and friends and then we all go watch the fireworks in Boscobel...they have the best display around!

LOL, awesome! I love the lady on the toilet costume. You sound like you would fit right in with my husband and I at Halloween. We try to be creative and compete for prizes. One of us wins a prize almost every year somewhere. I have several ideas for this year, but a couple require some planning to figure out how it will all work.

I am a Yankee Doodle Dandy...born on the Fourth of July.

Lots of holidays birthdays in my family. My dad was born on Christmas and my youngest son was born on Easter.

Those costumes sound cool! Do you have any pics that you can share?

I notice our birthdays are a week apart as well... awesome!

My oldest son was born on Christmas Morning (1980). Also my birthday lands on Easter sometimes depending on the year.

Instead of birthdays on holidays, my husband just prefers to visit emergency rooms. Halloween (welder's eye), Christmas (stomach pain/nasty flu) and 4th of July (cut knee by leaning on glass).

Yes, especially since the day before the Dr. told me he wasn't sure if my baby would make it, and then Christmas morning when we went into the delivery room he told my husband that he may not be able to save either one of us.

But good news, we both survived which made a wonderful Christmas and we are here today to tell about it.

I'm a summer girl at heart, so I tend to get excited about July 4th: fireworks, BBQ, bocce ball, music n' beer. Love it! Also, I have to include Lent/Easter as well since it moves me deeply on a spiritual level.
