What are you doing to reduce, reuse and recycle?

What are you doing to conserve resources and help the planet? Share your eco-friendly living tips in this poll.

My latest favorite is using a half cup of vinegar in the rinse cycle instead of fabric softener. It's cheaper than the liquid softeners and a bottle of vinegar lasts forever so we use less plastic. The clothes get just as soft as they would with commercial softener and don't have that fake, perfumey smell (nor do they smell like a vinaigrette)! Vinegar is also good for taking streaks off glassware.

Re: What are you doing to reduce, reuse and recycle?

I'm being more cautious of recycling cans, boxes, etc. It's surprising how many blue bags we throw out every two weeks now that use to all just go into the regular garbage.

In the past couple of years I have also rid ourselves of 2 old freezers and bought a new energy efficient upright. We also put in a new energy efficient hot water heater, and just bought new front loading washer and dryer that will save a lot.

I have to admit that I haven't started the public transportation yet even though our city has a good bus system, but I have tried to be more aware of how to condense my errands so I'm not back tracking etc.

Every little bit helps.
