With all of the recent rain, how has your home held up? Share your 2008 flood stories in this thread.

We have always lived on high ground. This house is over gravel and everything sifts right down through to the lower ground around us. Our sump pump doesn't even go on! But I do feel for anyone in a flood - it is so devastating. On the other hand, have lost everything for other reasons and it was quite freeing.

Word of advice: Don't believe everything you read. News is geared to picking up the extremely small percentage of bad things and making it seem like that is all there is. They'll go into an area of flood and take photos of devastation, leaving 90% of the dry ground out of the story. Just watch where you live - don't live in a flood area. Pick high open ground, where tornadoes go! ha! Welcome to Wisconsin!

Alot of rain. I'm not sure of the depth, but deep enough to make mud.

When you live life on top of the pile you tend to not worry so much about floods, and whatnot all...bet it would suck to be in one though.

Jefferson County has been hit hard. A detour is taking you sometimes 20 miles out of your way.

The wildlife has been hit hard.
