Re: What are you getting your sweetie for Valentine's Day?

I don't usually give anything unless it is impulsive, or real for me to do so. Like, to my Grandmother, yes because she is thrilled with a card or flowers.

But my husband doesn't eat candy or want flowers or even to waste a couple dollars on a card. He would never get me a card or candy or flowers, much as I love the last two items. I usually buy myself a Hyacinth plant or something practical an he'll say "Where did you get that?" I tell him it is my Valentine's Day gift from him.
If I said "Honey, here's a nice dinner for you" he would faint because I don't like to cook. That would mean something to him.

It is one of the holidays i do like, though do not care for how it is overdone in the world of retail.

In my view Valentine's Day should be a true affinity for someone but not for selling sex products and expensive items, calling it "Love".

I would prefer a thoughtful note or simple wish on any day that is meant sincerely rather than a calendar date where a person feels obligated because "everyone else is". I wouldn't want a gift that was only given because your supposed to.

Re: What are you getting your sweetie for Valentine's Day?

Most years on this special day it is a card and something fun too lika dinner, a movie, something to say I am thinking of you today. I have not thought to hard about it this year but today is the day so I must think hard all day long and decide on my way home from work tonight. I know it will not be long stemmed choclate roses...AJE those did sound tempting
