Re: Did you shop day-after-Thanksgiving sales?

After cooking all day on Thanksgiving and eating there was no way I could either spend the night out in the cold or even get up real early. You could not pay me to do that! lol Or give me great bargains and I'm queen of the bargain hunting. lol

But I did get out to the stores around 8:00 that morning and did the usual rounds of the stores around here...walmart, k-mart, big lots, shopko, menards. Missed not going to the big malls but that is all the time I had to go. I will say that Walmart was a walk in, around and out quickly and pretty much the same with the others with no waiting in lines to check out except Shopko. That was a mad house and the lines were way down the asile. What got me was about 15 minutes before 11:00 when the early bird specials was suppose to end at Shopko I was told that if I did not get in line and up to the registar and paid for my things that at the ring of 11:00 I would not get my special prices! People were starting to panic thinking they had carts totally loaded of things they spent time to get and even though they were in line they would not get the cheap prices because they did not have enough registers to get them out quickly? Thought for a few mintues there was going to be a riot. lol

I on the other hand knew of a register that was in the other part of the store and was out a few minutes before 11:00. whew! Not fun though.

I got home in time to make turkey for lunch and say like I do every year...man..I'm not dong that next year! lol

Re: Did you shop day-after-Thanksgiving sales?

Didn't get a good nights sleep. My twin left home at just before 12AM out to Best Buy with a friend. She was 100th in the line. Underdressed and underprepared she kept calling me all night to come with extra supplies. At 6Am I recieved my final call to come save a spot in a line...little can I say I was a sucker there too. So yeah I did shop.

Got some deals - and had fun despite the hassles

#13 in line at Best Buy - started at 5pm on Thanksgiving. Dressed very well and brought a tent that sets up in 2 minutes.

Got 5 laptops from $229 up

Got a desktop with flat screen and printer for $198

Got a dozen 100-disc DVD-R sets at $6.99 each

Got 50 Mini-DV tapes, 2-packs for $3.99

Got a Nikon D40 with extra 70-200mm zoom

Got 4 x 2Gb of Ram for $55 each

Got 9 x 4Gb thumb drives for $15 each

A bunch of other stuff...warranties alone totaled about $1,500

Great deal - got 4 x 320 Gb internal SATA drives (1.2 Terabytes on the video Mac now) for $60 each.

Another great one - 4 x 500 Gb external 'MyBook' drives at $100 each

Got more than I needed, but then 2 laptops at work took a dump within a few days of shopping, and I couldn't have afforded to replace them nearly as well without picking up the Black Friday deals.

Had a good time in line with my good friend's son and his girlfriend; smart shoppers and great young people.

The wife did a midnight run somewhere, then a 5am and 6am deal.

I checked out and went to breakfast about 10, then to work till about 3:30, then work at home for ninety minutes before crashing. Glad that it is over.

Regards,
Keith

Cool Re: Did you shop day-after-Thanksgiving sales?

You know, every year there are such good sales, that I really wish that I could take advantage of them, but rarely do I ever go out to shop the day after Thanksgiving! Several years ago my mom made me go, because she had to work that day and wanted to take advantage of some of the sales, but it was NUTS and I vowed to NEVER do that again!

Then, a few years back, we stopped out on Black Friday, but not when the stores opened. We were on our way back from Oconto Falls, it was already afternoon, and we stopped at a couple of stores in Green Bay but they were already out of most of what we wanted, so we jumped back on the highway and headed home. I haven't done it since. There's no way that I could even get up that early, with most places starting at 5am and now they are even just opening back up at Midnight, and the crazy people are there, standing in line, in the freezing cold and with completely full bellies!!! It's just NUTS!!!

Aint gonna be me! LOL. ;-)

WOW!! You were busy Keith! Got some awesome deals there too!

I find going to the store during a Packer game is good. Stores are dead then.

5pm?! Wow... That is one heck of a long time to spend in line, even in a tent! And you were #13?! What time did #1 get there? LOL

Talking Re: Did you shop day-after-Thanksgiving sales?

I did nothing but go to work the next day after stuffing all that turkey down my throat. Miss the snow. So weird being somewhere there are no real change of seasons, and the oddness of seeing palm tree´s with christmas lights instead of pine trees still leaves me in awe. Also missing the odd smell of the kenosha air.
