Re: Which decade of television is your favorite?

I'm still not big on the whole television scene. I think it makes your brain mushy...flickering lights, and et al.

However, I enjoyed the antics of John Belushi and the gang on the early "Saturday Night Live". I watched some late night television in the 60's and early 70's.

Having served on aircraft carriers, predominantly overseas, I wasn't exposed to much television, other than the closed circuit coverage of catapult launches, and arresting gear landings. A good portion of those activities I got to see live on site.

I commercial television lost it's appeal, and I just have better things to do.

The cooking shows are cool, though. Including those found on "The Food Channel", and programmed on PBS. "Good Eats", and "Semi Homemade" are the ones I frequent most often.

Re: Which decade of television is your favorite?

It is hard to vote for this one. Should have a category all of the above....since there are elements of each that I like.

Re: Which decade of television is your favorite?

Sunday nights at Grandma and Grandpa's in the early sixties.

Lassie. My Favorite Martian. The Ed Sullivan Show and The Wonderful World of Disney.

All on a big console TV with about a 14" black and white screen after a fine home cooked meal with garden vegetables and home made pie, then a game of checkers with Grampa Klein.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I like a little of each decade. The one above included Saturday moring cartoons, The Green Hornet and Batman, followed later by Kung Fu. I was the remote control for my parents, and the official antenna adjuster for Green Bay Packer Games in the Glory Years.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Star Trek and M*A*S*H next decade. The Rockford Files.

*****************

80s started with M*A*S*H and that was about it, besides some good movies and comedy on cable. Produced a couple of one hour shows for cable myself though, while taking some free local access classes on camera and control room stuff.

----------------------

90s, Baseball. Excellent for working late nights. You can listen and whenever there's action, you almost invariably get a replay. Charlie Rose. Star Trek, The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This decade - a little more baseball but not enough. 2007 exciting, though.

My favorites: The West Wing and Inside the Actors Studio.

Lots of time watching my daughters and wife watch The Gilmore Girls. All kinds of crime shows are on, too, though I'm usually on the computer when I'm here. Same for re-runs of Frasier, Becker, I like the Dog Whisperer, but after 20 shows I kind of get the point.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
90s and today, DVDs are the biggie.
Today via NetFlix. The direct streaming documentaries there are excellent. Got a couple extra hours out of myself at work one night last week by playing a 2 hour piece on Ralph Nader on a second screen while I cleaned up a hundred emails or so.
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
I'm amazed at the technology leaps. Twenty years ago a good 27 inch color TV was way cool. About 8 years ago I got a 60 inch rear projection that still (knock on wood) delivers an awesome picture. Still, I'm blown away by the 1080p plasma screens I see at the big box stores and by the excellent quality I'm getting on a laptop.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Just read today that a new movie is out with exclusive iTunes distribution instead of a theatrical release. The times, they are a'changin'. Good news is that we have our own studio at work now and we're doing our own shows for iTunes and the web, besides corporate stuff (very good Corporate stuff) - and I'm working with a young man who is just finishing up a short feature film. Cool stuff.
Regards,
Keith
I remember those days. Sunday evening always brought the best meal of the week. Then I could not wait to settle in to watch my favorite show! Lassie! I could not tear myself away until the very end where Lassie would put her paw up to say goodbye. lol
Always watched The Wonderful World of Disney too. That was a given.
I do remember very clearly the Ed Sullivan Show when the Beatles came on. That was the moment I changed...I fell in love with Paul McCartney. lol
Forgot all about My Favorite Martian. Now that brought back memories. lol
Yeah, they don't make t.v. shows like the good 'ole days anymore.
