Re: What type of organization do you volunteer for?

This may not be a complete list and I am not bragging but I guess I was busy and one time. Now I do more relaxing and I let the younger people do all the work, it is their time to help out.

My Volunteer list as I can recall

Education and support volunteering
When my childeren were of school age I volunteered for anything that needed a parent. I have three children with age differences of 7 years so I guess I did the school thing for about 12-18 years but then I never really counted the times or years, they just knew they could call me.

That included
in-class help
field trips
athletic events
food fairs
special projects such as painting the gym, adding insulation to the school etc.

I helped my wife with her middle school ski club 4 trips a winter for five years. We had 4-5 busses full of students.

Church voluntering 3 years approx.
weekly money collection counting and recording ( 1 for you , 1 for me hahahahahahahaha)

Church committiees 3 years each
Finance
Building and Grounds

I helped at the Holy Name retreat house on Chambers Island
by doing spring cleaning/opening, fall cleand/closing and mid-summer week long maintenance approx 8 years

Community
alcohol and other drug abuse committee
zoning and planning

volunteered for the following events

Fox Cities Marthathon years 1 and 2
Neenah Duathelon 1st year
Otto Grunski bike races one time

Re: What type of organization do you volunteer for?

I volunteer at my daughter's school when they need me.

My other one is sort of a combination of two. I volunteer with a quilting group that makes quilts for the needy, but I do it through my church. I think that makes it a combination of a church organization and a charity.

Re: What type of organization do you volunteer for?

It is surprising to see that more people so far volunteer for animal related organizations then for all of the other choices. I am one of those but I did check the political because I am involved in local, county and regional government.

Re: What type of organization do you volunteer for?

I voted for schools since I feel like over the years I have given so much time as well as 'things' to the teachers, classrooms, PTO etc. But I will say that Charities is also at the top of the list for me and I should put a vote in for that as well. Our School PTO created a Giving Tree and ran it for 3 or 4 years? We gave a gift of a toy, clothing and treat and wrapped it to every foster child in our city. We also ran food drives, clothing drives, and helped our Spanish Center and Shalom Center.
Personally I give as much as I can in the way of clothing to our Urban Outreach center's clothes closet where they help those in need without charge. I like the fact that they give the clothes out.

I use to give household to our local St. Vincent De Paul until the last time when in front of my husband they through a nice piece of furniture we donated in the garbage bin. It was a higher end piece for a large T.V. to sit on with two doors and shelves under it. One door was missing which didn't show to much. Or they could take the other door off to match. Otherwise it was in good shape. They saw the missing door and out it went. I was so angry when my husband told me they just tossed it out. After some of the old junk I have seen in their store that they have accepted and then not accept something still in decent shape. Well, I have not sent anything over there since. Goodwill or Purple Heart gets our things now.
