I remember when we first moved on this street and my now grown kids were in their teens and old enough to do their own thing and my youngest was only 1. So my little one and I would sit out and hand treat bags out. I would count them so I had an idea of how many kids we had and one time I handed out over 130 bags. Over the years the numbers have gone way down.
Now that our younger kids are growing up we go with them and feel as if I am not missing to many kids coming to our house since I check from time to time at our road and not to many are walking. I try to make it back here to hand some out but it's really nothing like it use to be.
I don't mind to much and almost wish we did not do the candy thing anymore. It just isn't safe really. And when you think about it you teach your kids all year long to never, ever take candy from strangers and then you let them do it on Halloween.

That is why we really are glad for the Great Pumpkin that comes and takes the candy away.
