More new taxes coming
"95 percent of Americans will get a tax cut" was the campaign slogan. Then he came through with the payroll cut. Fullfill the promise for future campaigns.
What he didn't tell you was that the new taxes needed to support all of his programs will eclipse the cut by miles.
First Cigarettes, now soda:
Soda Tax Weighed to Pay for Health Care - WSJ.com
This is just the beginning. Obama is following the New York/California tax plan. Many "little" taxes on many different things. Then hopefully you won't notice.
Bush tax cuts expire. Next will be salt. Then it'll be cooking oils. Then it'll be movie tickets. Then it'll be sport tickets. Then it'll be more cell phone tax. Then it'll be new Internet taxes. On and on it goes.
After a while you say to yourself, "where's all my money going"?
Too late.

Re: More new taxes coming
This is what makes Obama tick.
He may be the most mysterious and secretive president in American history.
Though inexperienced and arguably unqualified for the presidency, he mesmerized the entire establishment press and more than half of voters, many regarding him nothing short of a political messiah. Though he can barely speak publicly without a teleprompter, he's praised as a transcendent communicator. Though his voting record is extreme left, he portrays himself as a pragmatic centrist.
But beyond Obama's political ideology, many Americans are troubled also by his strange personality attributes: He greatly exaggerates his achievements, expects constant praise and admiration, believes he's special, doesn't appear to concern himself with other people's feelings, expresses disdain for those he feels are inferior, sets unrealistic goals, appears as tough-minded and unemotional, and other qualities – all of which are textbook symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
Indeed, the word "narcissist" is increasingly being applied to America's 44th president. Pulitzer prize-winning columnist and former psychiatrist Charles Krauthammer asks, "Does the narcissism of this man know no bounds?" Jack Kelly, journalist and former high-ranking Reagan administration Pentagon official, says: "The most dangerous thing about having a narcissist in a position of power is his unwillingness – perhaps his inability – to ever admit error. ... Obama acknowledged the troop surge in Iraq has produced dramatic improvements, but said he still would oppose it." Radio giant Rush Limbaugh said of Obama recently: "He's supremely narcissistic ... This is all about him. This has nothing to do with the country. It has nothing to do with our way of life. Every aspect of his presidency is about building him up, making him appear to be savior, messiah ..."
Is the president of the United States indeed a narcissist, a condition psychology and psychiatry recognize as a serious personality disorder?

Good. Maybe if we stopped smoking and drinking so much pop then we would be healthier. They both are addictive it's so not healthy for us to have it all the time.

Re: More new taxes coming
Now he's considering taxing health benefits.
Politicians can't see past their nose. If you tax employer supplied health benefits, and you have a government "choice" that's cheaper (although coverage may suffer), what would you choose?
Employers and employees will quickly drop their coverage to avoid a new huge tax. Before you know it, the only "choice" is government coverage. Then they soon discover that the money they planned on getting isn't coming in after all. Then they have to find a new tax to impose. Only it has to be larger than they expected because so many more people are "choosing" the government plan because private plans are all but gone.
Probably the plan anyway.
I can't believe nobody in government considers human behavior when imposing new taxes.
This is just too easy to predict.

That's simply silly!
Seriously if you dont smoke or drink soda what's it to you, any more than it is to the government, if i choose to die sooner or have bad health?? You seriously don't care about me as a person any more than Doyle cares about any of us, so why care about MY health?
you can cry about 2nd hand smoke all you want, is my drinking pepsi hurting my neighbors?? i think not.
Time to make alcohol illegal too in that case, let's save some livers! Oh & shut down all these damn fast food restaurants, they are bad for us & if my neighbor eats a greasy burger i might get 2nd hand greese clogging my arteries.

Get used to it. It's only just beginning.
The way it would work, is you wouldn't get taxed on the 50 bucks you spend. You would get taxed on what your employer spends.
In other words, If your employer spends 500 dollars a month on you for your health insurance, that 500 dollars is now considered income to you. So you would end up showing an extra 6000 dollars of income at the end of the year that you have to pay tax on.

Oh wow!! Even having the highest amount taken from my check, i'd be paying in A LOT of taxes at the end of the year, that would hurt bad!
I would think that making Illegal (under the table cash) would be the only way to survive... I bet many small time pot smokers will become bigtime pot Dealers!
Many times since January i have second guessed my vote, then i realize that we could have put McCain in office and had the same outcome... It seems we are screwed either way.

Re: More new taxes coming
This is what happens when you raise taxes on "the rich" or "those rich businesses".
Taxing "the rich" has many consequences. Rich people/businesses employee people. These people are in the business of making money. Government seems to think that they're in business to supply them with an unending supply of taxes. Who do you think wins that contest?

Re: More new taxes coming
This is hilarious. After all the money he's spent and proposes to spend, it's time to get responsible:
UPDATE 2-Obama seeks fiscal responsibility mantle | Deals | Regulatory News | Reuters
We're being set up for more tax increases.
Be prepared for statements like: "We inherited....", "It's worse than we thought", "We need to invest", "Prevent Castrophe", "Unprecedented economic downfall we inherited", "We have no choice", "We need to pay for the mistakes of the past", "Long term plan", "Fiscal responsibility".
And my favorite: "We all need to sacrifice".
How about some real spending cuts.

Not much after the "pay as you go" proclamation came out (see above post), this comes out:

Every statement he makes has a time limit on it. Problem is, the time gets shorter and shorter.

Re: More new taxes coming
If you participated in the "cash for clunkers" program, I hope you realize that money is taxable.
First, if you bought a care for $40,000 and got a deal of $35500 after the $4500 rebate, you still pay sales tax on $40,000.
Secondly, Wisconsin (I doubt they'll make an exception) will consider that $4500 income to you and you will pay income tax on it.
But you can feel good about being patriotic and paying your fair share.

'Cash For Clunkers" is a government program tasked with rendering any and all vehicles with a frame, a powerful engine, a hefty drive train, and enough room to carry supplies (groceries) and people, useless and destroyed.
Vehicles traded using the "Cash For Clunkers" are rendered unusable by seizing the engine, striping the drive gears and generally trashing anything of use in the vehicle.
My thoughts on this is that the Fascist Administration of Barack Obama wants to destroy the vehicles that could be used as para-military utilities against his maneuverings.
Did you know "The Hummer" (the civilian version of the "Humvee") has been sold to Russia?

That is messed up! I didn't need the cash for clunkers, but i know several people who took advantage of it... people who will soon be unhappy with this news, if WI is one to count it as income.
Thanks for the info... I'll pass it along.

Big shocker! Governement gives away money and people take advantage of it.
Now who pays for it? What have sales been since the program ended (I know, do you)? How much of that "free money" went to foreign companies? After spending all those billions, what's the unemployment rate now (I know, do you)?
I've got a good liberal idea, let's have the government kick in money for everything I need. It's all free money right?
I want a new:
Washer
Dryer
Television
Stereo
House (oops, already have free money available for this)
Aquarium
BBQ grill
Sofa
Sunglasses
Toaster
Lawn Mower
Get it? Where does it end?
Welfare for all! That's the answer!

|
I don't have to have a point when posting an article. I post news and let others take it as it is.
As far as placing it here, I agree there are better places for this article. I merely searched to see if there was a topic on the C4C and this thread came up and I guess I quickly scanned the last few entries and noticed it was about the program, and didn't notice this was actually the topic about new taxes etc.
Success? Not a success? I'm sure there are alot of articles that slant both ways. Many feel they made the correct choice in going for this program, some may not. I'm sure since you like to find the negative in most everything to do with anything with the gov etc. it doesn't surprise me that you are one that is not in favor. But as I said, I merely was adding an article. I am not being drawn into the drama of the political posts here, I simply thought the facts in this (WISCONSIN) article was worth adding somewhere.
Perhaps I will look into moving it if it seems to out of place here....
