I have very good insurance & very affordable however...
They are now considering slapping a fine on families who don't carry insurance, so long as they can afford it (with the government deciding who can afford it). They would even consider mandating a garish of our wages to get it done!
along with that, still tax health care, making it less affordable!
IF this happens I will be mad as hell with Obama along with all the Dems who are behind this BAD move!!!
He will have officially become a liar in my eyes, in doing exactly what he publicly ripped McCain apart for wanting to do!
someone please correct me if i am misunderstanding, but I read is on several sites & this seems to be exactly what is up for consideration!
Americans need to ask a basic question: Why are they rushing into a system of government-dominated health care when the very countries that have experienced it for so long are backing away?
The choice will disolve over time. Many companies that now offer insurance to lure and keep employees, will offload that cost because there's now a government option. If companies are forced to offer insurance, some companies will go out of business because they can't afford the cost. Or, it'll be so expensive that the government "choice" is the only one that'll be taken.
The government choice will be cheaper and more attractive when you buy it, but the coverage and quality will erode over time.
There are ways to help control health care costs without the government taking it over.
3 simple things come to mind that could be easily done and would go a long way. Then more things can be considered to keep chewing at it.
1. Tort reform. Loser pays. Malpractice insurance is forcing Doctors to skyrocket their rates. That's a fact.
2. Pull back on government mandates on health insurances companies. The government is already deeply entrenched in private health-care by forcing insurance companies to cover many things as mandates driving up costs for everyone.
3. Stop giving free health care to illegal aliens. It's the law right now. Repeal it. It costs California about 4 billion a year for this alone. That's just one State.
That's a start.

Obama volunteers (ACORN) is having trouble selling the health plan.
Partial quote:
Humana’s chief executive officer, Michael McCallister, said in a June 15 interview that any government-run health plan “has the potential to disrupt 170 million people who get coverage through their employer or individually.”
End quote.
Potential to disrupt. What do you think that means? Did you hear about that on the news?
Article from the White House "Money Man". Read it close and decide if you believe it. Medicare is already going broke and doctors and hospitals are chosing not to service Medicare patients because of the government. Now the plan is to cut even more money from Medicare Doctors and Hospitals and somehow that "pays" for the plan.
For a plan that costs trillions of dollars, there a very few details in this article. You would think that the White House guy writing this article would have some.
Taken together, these “pay-fors” total about $950bn over 10 years, an amount that puts us in a good position to fully fund health reform in a deficit neutral way.
End quote.
C'mon now, you believe this? Health care will be paid for just by making things more efficient? It's that easy? No one but Obama knew this?
I'm not that stupid.

Do me a favor. Look at it, read it, tell me if you can understand it. Then decide if you think any politician understands it.
Now, the Senate is working on their own plan. Once they have that done it goes to committee. In committee, the two plans are laid side by side and the differences are worked out to come up with the final plan.
That's how all bills work.
Looking at the size and scope of this bill, how comfortable are you that a good plan will come out that we all understand?
This is being pushed to be done by the end of July. There is no way that anyone will understand this bill in it's entirety by then. So be prepared for some real shocks and surprises if/when this is signed by the Prez.
I challenge anyone to read this Bill and tell me what this plan costs and how it's paid for.
It's not in there.
I wonder if Obamba will give us the 5 days he promised before signing on this one. As if 5 days really matters.

When you hear Obama and the Democrats talking about all the paperwork and administrative work the health care industry spends its time on, it's actually the fault of the government. This is where they are supposedly getting the bulk of their "savings".
Do you really believe more government intervention will make it better? Medicare/Medicaid has 2000 pages of regulations right now. Think that'll get bigger, or smaller? I have my guess. Think it'll be easier, or harder for Doctors. I think I know.

I also have decent health care coverage but think all and there are many mnay more that have very poor healthcare coverage. Some of those people often foregore care to save money but pay for it by shortening their lives.
I did not vote for Obama and the Republicans had control for 8 years with nothing done.
Something needs to be done to get health care to all.
How much more basic can you get?
...Them's got ears, let them hear
Them's got eyes, let them see
Turn your eyes to the lord of the skies
Take this airline plane
It'll take you home again
kmfarm: you really have your act together on this issue...almost identical to the points I would have made...you beat me to the punch...
Let me add this little bit: when government says it will lower health care costs if a DEM bill does pass Congress this year, hold on to your wallet...it will almost certainly cost more, significantly more...

The private sector has had forever to come up with a plan to fix our healthcare nonsystem.
What do they offer?
What is there for people whose employer offers no healthcare insurance?
What happens when one loses one's job?
Per capita this country spends more money on health care than any other country and yet so many have no coverage at all.

If you'd do some research, you find that the "private sector" is hardly private. Government intervention by way of State and Federal mandates, forced coverage for illegal aliens and out of control trial lawyers are what have really messed up health insurance.
I'll ask you some questions.
Why is my car insurance affordable?
Why don't you (and all other taxpayers) pay for my homeowners insurance?
Why is the automatic response "have government take it over"?
Why the faith in government?
How have they done with Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid?
How's that stimulus working out?

One Senator says, If you want good health care, work for the Federal Government.
I think all politicians should go on Obamas "public option" when it's formulated.
Quote:
Huffington Post: After sharing his family's personal struggle with the burden of high health care costs, an audience member asked, "My question is... why is your insurance so much cheaper than my insurance and so better than my insurance?"
The question made Grassley cranky.
He responded, first, by suggesting the questioner "go work for John Deere," since they "don't pay anything" for their insurance plan.
When the questioner refused to let the senator wriggle out of answering the question, Grassley revealed how little he knew about his own insurance plan.
Another audience member had to help the senator out by describing the details of the plan. After she finished, the original questioner again asked, "Okay, so how come I can't have the same thing you have?"
Grassley's response: "You can. Just go work for the Federal government."
Good article that describes how anything can be "health care related".
Want a bike path? Call it health care. Want lights in a skateboard park? Call it healthcare. Open a farmers market? Call it healthcare.
I think you get the idea. Think about now many other things can be related to healthcare.
Mark my words, every election from this day forward will be centered around "improving healthcare" because it will be the most expensive screw up in galactic history.
