Here's a copy of text sent out by Organizing for America. They're the DNC funded group (endorsed by Obama) that got the SEIU motivated.
Point is, there's plenty of organizing and tactical manuevers on both sides. That's taking away from the actual debate.
If you notice, they changed the debate from "health care reform" to "health insurance reform". That's a deliberate change based on polling. Not the best way, IMO, to legislate 17% of the economy.
Begin body of text:
Anti-Harkonnen –
I wanted to send you an urgent invitation to an important town hall with Rep. Hank Johnson on Monday evening (August 10th). He’ll be talking to constituents and gathering feedback — this is an ideal opportunity to make sure your support for health insurance reform is seen and heard at exactly the right time.
Our congressional representatives are back home this month, and they’re facing more and more pressure from special interests on health insurance reform. It’s critical that we get out there and show them where we stand.
I hope you can join us.
What: Health Care Town Hall with
Rep. Hank Johnson
Where: Georgia Perimeter College
555 North Indian Creek Drive
Clarkston, GA 30021
When: Monday, August 10th
7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
RSVP
Our representatives are under attack by Washington insiders, insurance companies, and well-financed special interests who don’t go a day without spreading lies and stirring up fear. We need to show that we’re sick and tired of it, and that we’re ready for real change, this year.
Please try to arrive early to the town hall, and make sure that the most powerful voices in this debate are those calling for real reform, not angrily clamoring for the status quo.
Alright, let's get back to some real issues. The rowdy town hall meetings will soon be forgotten, but the issues will remain.
One of the items Obama touts in his plan (he actually has no plan. Only the House does and Obama hasn't read it) is that if everyone was covered, there would be more "preventative" measures done therefore catching illnesses early and saving money "in the long run". He uses that term alot. Probably means after he's out of office.
So putting rhetoric aside, what is the truth about that statement? Well the CBO (congressional budget office) covers this specifically in a letter. Now this is not put out by evil insurance companies, teabaggers, right wing extremeists, talk radio or Fox news. This is internal to the government.
Partial quote:
Although different types of preventive care have different effects on spending, the evidence suggests that for most preventive services, expanded utilization leads to higher, not lower, medical spending overall.
End quote.
So spending money on "preventative care" will actually cost more money. Not save it "in the long run". The next time Obama or congressman/senator speaks on health care, listen for what they say about this subject. I'd be willing to bet that they stick to the story that it'll save money. Even though it's been studied and refuted. Hence the distrust for politicians. They are the ones spreading misinformation.
Seen plenty of stories like this. Just an example. Put aside the obviously stacked audience at Obamas "town hall". There's plenty of "planted people" at town halls all across the country. Not just the "right wing mobsters" either.
This clip is from Fox. I know, it's fox, must be phoney 'cause they hate Democrats. But it's a very weak (and telling) response about the "fishy" list the White House is compiling. All the guy has to say is that law requires they keep all correspodence and documents and leave it at that. So why doesn't he? Notice how he gins up the Nazi thing again also. I covered this earlier and showed it to be phoney too. You listen to a spin doctor like this and wonder why people don't trust government?
BTW, I sent something to that White House "snitch" address. I'll see if I get a response that "gives me the facts". I'll tell you later what I sent.
It's no wonder people are confused. Obama and the White House are sending mixed messages. Obama wants to clear up the "myths", but he just creates more confusion.
With spin and dishonestly like this, you don't need "right-wingers" at town halls, you just need to open your own eyes.
If it was good legislation, you wouldn't need the spin or the President criss-crossing the country with his own spin to debunk the "myths and misinformation".
The real source of myth and misinformation is Obama himself. He has only himself to blame.
BTW, what's the carbon footprint of all his travel? We've only got a few years to save the planet and he's out spreading carbon like it didn't matter. Doesn't he care about the planet?

Here's one of the leading Democrats crafting the Bill(s). He explains that he doesn't think we need insurance companies at all. He wants "Medicare for all".
Of course he doesn't tell us what that would cost or how it would be paid. He also fails to explain that Medicare is insolvent with no solution.
Oh boy, when Air America get's on Obamas case, it's not looking good for him. They're talking about his hypocritical secret deal with the big pharmaceutical company lobbyists.
Here's a hidden camera report on the "astroturf" movement. Paid activists get paid $33,000 per year plus vacation, insurance and 401k. Not very "grassroots" is it? BTW, it's a liberal/Democrat organization. You know, the ones complaining about the town hall protesters that are supposedly funded by big oil and special interests.
The video is filled with sarcasm and humor, but the story is factual.
More union "muscle" bused into a town hall meeting. Wonder how this will turn out? I didn't realize that unions were the right wing mobsters disrupting town halls.
Yet another example of misinformation and myth from the left.
How many times have you heard that the Republicans (which I am not) are the "party of no", have no ideas, simply want the "status quo", or simply don't want reform. I've heard it from major media, leading Democrat lawmakers and talking heads, blogs and forums, Liberal talk radio (yes liberals are on talk radio too), and the President himself.
So what's the truth?
The republicans have had their own Bill since May. Did you know that? Probably not. I wonder why.
I could have predicted it, but didn't want to. The Kennedy funeral is being used to push ObamaCare.
They actually pushed a couple of his grandkids out to "pray" for his cause. Where's the screams of child exploitation? Better yet, where's the taste and comman decency? These people will do anything to push an agenda. Well maybe these kids came up with these "prayers" on their own. That's believable right? BTW, what happened to keeping religion out of governing? Ah but it's Teddy. Jesus would have wanted ObamaCare.
I know it's tough for ObamaCare supporters to actually look at facts and evidence, but believe it or not, there's nothing new in his plan. You also don't have to "wonder" if it'll work. You just have to look at evidence. So instead of just looking at Obama in awe, and worshiping him for his intentions, let's look at some actual results.
Both of these States have plans nearly identical to Obamas. You dont' really believe that he, or congress, came up with a 1000+ page plan from scratch in a matter of weeks do you?
I'm sure Liberals want to blindly applaud his lofty visions or change (ugh), but reality has to kick in sometime doesn't it?
