Basically, the shower curtain slowly inflates around you while the shower’s running, in the end trapping and immobilizing the showerer. The idea, I’m guessing, is not so much to kill the un-eco showerer as to speed up said showerer, encouraging them to soap up and rinse off quickly before life is squeezed out of them.

That's strange for sure. Let's hope the house doesn't start on fire while you're trapped in the shower.

If the idea is to save water, just buy one of the little shut off valves that attaches to the showerhead. We used to have one in our old apartment because the water only came out one way....hard. It was painful getting blasted by the that thing. The valve can slow down the flow of water or stop it while you apply shampoo or the ladies shave their legs. It can help save a little on the water bills.

The real goofy part is that these things are made of plastic. Plastic requires petroleum and then a processing which causes........

Pollution!

Then of course they'll end up in a land fill.

That's the problem with "greenies". They're very short sighted.

Just like the CFL (mercury) bulbs or battery powered cars. Ever see the strip mines in Canada to get the material to make these batteries? I doubt the "greenies" have either.

You'll never see a "UL" safety label on one of those things.

Blue Baboon's recommendation of a shut off valve would work fine. Every shower on board a U.S. Navy ship is outfitted with such a valve. Fresh water is next to gold when you're at sea.
