If you think that doing your part to save the planet by reducing you electricity usage will result in smaller electric bills, think again.
This kind of stuff is coming and you'll be seeing more and more of it. Your electric company is not interested in you having smaller bills. So the goal is to use less electric, but have bigger electric bills.

Cap and Trade is meant to reduce everyones energy usage by making it more expensive. Higher costs means you'll use less.
But it's a spiral. Utilities will not be getting the extra money you spend on energy under Cap and Trade, the government does. So you use less energy and the utilities make less money.
So they raise their rates to make up for you using less. Just like your article.
So we'll all get hit twice. Rising taxes and rising rates.

Worst part, they plan on raising even more carbon taxes in individual cities. This is a sign of things to come. When any government body is short of cash, raise taxes in the name of saving the planet.
