Here's a who's who of the scandal. Includes NOAA and NASA.

It takes a Russian news station to have a decent debate. If you want news, you have to look outside the U.S.

BTW, this guy, the international leader of the global warming alarmists (IPCC), has no training or education in anything related to climate or weather. He's an economist. What does that tell you?

Re: Latest Global Warming news

Contrary to the leftist talking points, the big money is not spread around by "big oil", it's spread around by big government and it's "green" initiatives.

Partial quote:

the European Commission's most recent appropriation for climate research comes to nearly $3 billion, and that's not counting funds from the EU's member governments. In the U.S., the House intends to spend $1.3 billion on NASA's climate efforts, $400 million on NOAA's, and another $300 million for the National Science Foundation. The states also have a piece of the action, with California—apparently not feeling bankrupt enough—devoting $600 million to their own climate initiative......................And all this is only a fraction of the $94 billion that HSBC Bank estimates has been spent globally this year on what it calls "green stimulus"—largely ethanol and other alternative energy schemes—of the kind from which Al Gore and his partners at Kleiner Perkins hope to profit handsomely.

End quote.

ExxonMobile spent 7 million. That's a drop in the bucket of what the government does.

Bret Stephens: Climategate: Follow the Money - WSJ.com

Speaking of money, Al Gore has a new scam. Go to Copenhagen and charge $1200 for the privilege of getting his new book, shaking his hand and getting a photo with him. Kind of like when you got your diploma.

But hey, there'll be enough foolish people with deep pockets to keep Al smiling. Oh well, more power to him. He's cashing in on the market (he created). Good for him. Let's just not pretend that he's saving the world.

Re: Latest Global Warming news

Here's the latest scare story. This is the first bolded scary paragraph:

Warmer ocean temperatures caused by global warming could cause sharks and other fish to become more aggressive, according to a new Australian study.

Here's how the story reads a little further down:

The studies were conducted on young damsel fish.......I would imagine that it might also affect sharks

Notice the words "could", "imagine" and "might". That's the kind of science that gave us the global warming hoax in the first place. But I bet your little public school kids will just know that global warming makes sharks meaner.

Climate change linked to fish aggression

Scandal shakes foundations of climate science - The Globe and Mail

How can anyone claim that the world is warming when the data for the past is garbage?

Fraudulent hockey sticks and hidden data « JoNova

Yet another excellent piece by George Will.

Partial quote

Some climate scientists compound their delusions of intellectual adequacy with messiah complexes. They seem to suppose themselves a small clerisy entrusted with the most urgent truth ever discovered. On it, and hence on them, the planet's fate depends. So some of them consider it virtuous to embroider facts, exaggerate certitudes, suppress inconvenient data, and manipulate the peer-review process to suppress scholarly dissent and, above all, to declare that the debate is over.

Re: Latest Global Warming news

These people aren't even trying to hide their hypocrisy. They know you can't do anything about it.

Partial quote:

The temptation, then, is to dismiss the whole thing as a ridiculous circus. Many of the participants do not really need to be here. And far from "saving the world," the world's leaders have already agreed that this conference will not produce any kind of binding deal, merely an interim statement of intent.

End quote.

Still think these people believe their own message? The whole ordeal is a sham. Nothing will come of it, and still 10's of thousand will show up including our Hollywood elite. But with all the bad PR after climategate, they can't even do some simple symbolic gestures. Like parking private planes and not riding around looking for hookers in limos.

Maybe they should spend all this money on creating some jobs or purchasing some health care for poor children.

All new science is showing the alarmists are on the wrong side of truth.

The Theory is Falling to Bits-Herald Sun

How much will it cost? Trillions. Notice in this article the term "rich nations" is used over and over. Who do you think these "rich nations" are?

I'll tell you. The United States, Japan and a couple European countries. Who do you think will actually pay up? This whole article is about putting a good spin on taking trillions of your dollars and spreading it around the globe. I could spend an hour picking apart this one silly article, but I think you can judge for yourself.

Climate Deal Likely to Bear Big Price Tag-New York Times

Large group of scientists write to the U.N. Leader (Dec 8) to tell him that there is no evidence of global warming.

Partial Quote:

Climate change science is in a period of ‘negative discovery’ - the more we learn about this exceptionally complex and rapidly evolving field the more we realize how little we know. Truly, the science is NOT settled..........It is not the responsibility of ‘climate realist’ scientists to prove that dangerous human-caused climate change is not happening. Rather, it is those who propose that it is, and promote the allocation of massive investments to solve the supposed ‘problem’, who have the obligation to convincingly demonstrate that recent climate change is not of mostly natural origin and, if we do nothing, catastrophic change will ensue. To date, this they have utterly failed to do so.

End quote.

Re: Latest Global Warming news

Excellent article on Obamas world view via global warming.

Partial quote:

Yet most people in the developing world will not benefit from the suicide of the West. The warmists' vision is not one of growing prosperity, but of capping wealth at a comparatively low level. De-industrialization means the West falls back while emerging economies grow a bit. The "prosperity gap" may close, but ultimately everyone is left with less prosperity.

So how did "science" respond to climatgate? poorly.

"Science" responds to Climategate - Clive Crook

Good article on just what the important issues are at Copenhagen.

Ultimately the whole case for a Copenhagen treaty rests on the projections of the computer models relied on by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (the IPCC). These show that, as CO2 levels continue to rise, so temperatures must follow, leading inexorably to catastrophe - unless mankind takes the most drastic action to cut down on its emissions of CO2........But as more and more eminent scientists have recently been pointing out, the only reason why the computer models predict that rising CO2 must cause temperatures to rise is that this is what they were programmed to show.

Copenhagen climate summit: Blindfolds at Copenhagen are hiding the crucial issues - Telegraph

Here's another article filled with real science. It shows how the IPCC people adjusted (read made up) data to show past temperatures. It is then compared with real raw data. There's a surprising difference.

This is why climategate is important. These people have been covering up their agenda with a phoney catastrophe for a whole generation.

Partial quote.

Those, dear friends, are the clumsy fingerprints of someone messing with the data Egyptian style … they are indisputable evidence that the “homogenized” data has been changed to fit someone’s preconceptions about whether the earth is warming.

Re: Latest Global Warming news

I told ya. Population control control is going to be an important issue in saving the planet (sounds like the 70's again). It's not only important, it's key to an agreement.

Maybe these geniuses should figure out that we could grow all the food we would ever need with a growing population if we would feed plants more CO2 and stop wasting productive cropland by putting up stupid windmills and solar panels.

Or........maybe the worlds leaders need to figure out who to sacrifice. We're talking about the extinction of mankind and the end of the world. This is serious stuff. I think we should just nuke some of these useless 3rd world countries. It'd take care of most of the overpopulation and reduce poverty at the same time.

Win, win.

Here's a shocker, there's complaints of political lobbying going on at Copenhagen.

Re: Latest Global Warming news

Talk about being thrown under the Bus.

The UN IPCC chief (remember he's an economist not a climate scientist) says that the climategate guys were just rogue (remember these are the lead authors for the IPCC).

Partial quote:

"In every field of endeavour, there might be a few ‘black sheep' who deviate from ethical practices. But that does not mean the whole system can be labelled as being dishonest or fraudulent on the basis of one particular incident, even if it was true."

End quote.

gulfnews : UN climate chief rules out conspiracy behind debate

Even as the IPCC was making ridiculous claims, some of the IPCC scientists wanted to speak out but stayed silent. That's science?

Partial quote:

The claim was both simple and terrifying: that temperatures on planet Earth are now ‘likely the highest in at least the past 1,300 years’..........Yet some of the scientists who helped to draft it, The Mail on Sunday can reveal, harboured uncomfortable doubts.........it ‘looks like there were years around 1000AD that could have been just as warm’.......... there was no new data, only the ‘same old evidence’ that had been around for years.........But when the ‘warmest for 1,300 years’ claim was published in 2007 in the IPCC’s fourth report, the doubters kept silent.........this is inconvenient to climate change believers because there were no cars or factories pumping out greenhouse gases in 1000AD - yet the Earth still warmed............‘Any scientist ought to know that you just can’t mix and match proxy and actual data,’ said Philip Stott, emeritus professor of biogeography at London’s School of Oriental and African Studies. ‘They’re apples and oranges. Yet that’s exactly what he did.’

SPECIAL INVESTIGATION: Climate change emails row deepens - and Russians admit they DID send them | Mail Online

An Alarmist Professor lies in a debate. Just like they've been lying to your kids for 20 years.

Partial quote:

Professor Maslin erroneously asserted there are “5000 leading climate scientists” with the UN IPCC to support the claims of man-made climate fears. “None of the science has been actually changed. If you look at the [UN] IPCC report, 5000 leading climate scientists put together all the leading science together,” .............Reality Check: Only 60 UN experts 'explicitly supported the claim made by the IPCC that global warming represents a threat to the planet'

End quote.

Sounds like political talking points to me.

Hostile TV Debate: Warming Professor falsely claims '5000 leading climate scientists' are in UN IPCC

Re: Latest Global Warming news

Part of science is looking at a total past picture. I wonder if any politicians in Copenhagen have seen this.

The gimmick these IPCC scientists use is to pick a time frame that suits their agenda. You can cleary see that what we are now experiencing is neither abnormal nor in our control. Matter of fact, there's a huge ice age coming just based on past history. Our little contribution will have zero effect on it's impending return.

Re: Latest Global Warming news

Here's a graph showing the global sea ice extent over the last 30 years. Notice again how it doesn't match the scare stories you've been hearing. That's because, again, they've been using small little land areas and time frames to scare you into believing that it's the same over the globe.

Excellent (polite and cordial) interview in Copenhagen of a typical GreenPeace activist. She is cleary ignorant of any facts. Global Warming is based solely on faith. And she admits it. This is a very good comparison of "faith" vs "facts". This woman could be a teacher in any school in the country.
