Maybe we should focus on the definition of Stimulus. I thought it was supposed to this big bold move by Obama to give an immediate "jolt" to the economy. Remember how it had to get passed so quickly because there was no time to waste?
Well then why is only 6% of the money been spent so far?
Are these jolts to the economy? You decide.
53 billion to the States where 80% (over 69 billion) is to be used for education. I see that as a payoff to the teachers union.
19 Billion for food stamps. Might be an arguement that it's nice to have, but is it stimulus?
2.1 billion for head start/early head start programs. Is that stimulus?
10 billion for education for the disadvantaged. Whatever "disadvantaged" means. Is that stimulus?
15 billion extra in Pell grants. Is that a jolting stimulus?
Over 3 billion for "fossil energy research and development". Sound like stimulus?
4.5 billion to convert federal buildings to "high-performance green buildings". Whatever that means. Stimulus?
7.4 billion to the National Institutes of Health fund to support scientific research. Sounds pretty vague to me. Stimulus?
1 Billion Department of Health and Human Services Prevention and Wellness Fund. Sounds like a slush fund. Stimulus?
2.5 billion National Science Foundation research and related activities. Another slush fund. Just what are "related activities"?
2 Billion for Emergency assistance for the redevelopment of abandoned and foreclosed homes. Aren't these homes that would no longer have an owner? Who's pocket does this "stimulus" line? Wonder how this one is doing.
All this is just a start. Took me longer to type it than to find it. None of this (in my opinion) will do anything to "jump start" the economy. How many new jobs are really here?
I have to go puke now.

Here's a story from one of the "brainiacs" out there. How this person can keep this job is beyond me. She also references economic "experts in the article. These are the people who believed the hype and actually think that there are hundreds of billions of dollars now out there "stimulating". The economy isn't back yet, so it must not have been enough. That's the thinking.
How stupid are these people. We know that a very small percentage of this "stimulus" has even been spent. We also know that a large percentage of the "stimulus" will stimulate nothing.
Yet, some are already calling for another stimulus. How can anybody with a brain justify this? They live in theory behind a desk with no basis in reality. Just like most politicians.

That's crazy. We don't need another stimulus package. What comes to mind, greed, corruption!
We've gone this far, if a business can't pull itself out of the hole then let it go.
Didn't some of these companies cook the books? Then they cry and say we need help, give us some money. I'm shocked that the IRS wasn't involved. Why didn't we hear about it from the honest news/media outlets? Money talks.
Article explains how the Stimulus was a government "bait and switch".
Partial quote:
By comparison, about 15 percent of the stimulus money will end up going for transportation -- including airports, highways and rail projects -- according to Federal Funds Information for States, a service of the National Governors Association and the National Conference of State Legislatures.
End quote.
Based on all the speeches and rhetoric, you'd think that most of the money was for "crumbling road and bridges".
This is what happens when people are too impressed with how great of a speech giver (orator) Obama is rather than looking at the details of what the speech is actually about.
Uh.......I thought that was supposed to be the plan to begin with. Big jolt to the economy and all that stuff. Now we need a special meeting and press release to spend the money?
Partial quote:
For the first time, the administration admitted the economic forecasts it used to sell the stimulus were overly optimistic.
End quote.
They used fear and the impending "catashtrophe" to get the giant pork bill passed. Remember that when they try to cram health care and cap and trade down your throat.
Want to know how Obama calculates jobs saved? They (his staff) calculate "x" number of jobs saved per dollars spent. This calculation has no basis in fact other than what they feel.
So, when the stimulus was passed with the statement "3 million jobs created or "saved", that was the starting point.
Now, with unemployment climbing, and no data supporting jobs created, the only thing left is jobs "saved".
So, with 5% of the stimulus spent, they calculate 5% of the 3 million. WOW! 150,000 jobs "saved". That's the figure that was put out this week.
Now he's saying that 600,000 will be "saved" by the accelerated spending he's demanded. None of it verifiable.
The only body that uses data to determine jobs created, is the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Not Obama, not Joe Biden, not anyone in the White House. So, if you don't here anything from them, there is nothing. No jobs "saved or created". It's all fiction.

In Wisconsin, 37 rural bridges carrying a little more than 500 vehicles a day -- some far fewer than that -- are on track to get stimulus dollars.................One small bridge near Stevens Point, Wis., is getting $840,000 in stimulus money, although it carries 260 vehicles a day, many of them to Rusty's Backwater Saloon. Rusty Fischer, the restaurant's owner, said the bridge is "definitely in need of repair." Then again, he added, it is crossing a little creek that could have been easily and cheaply forded with a culvert.
It isn't that the state was favoring Rusty's bridge over a more well-trodden thoroughfare, said Peg Schmitt, a spokeswoman for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. "When the eligibility criteria were made available, we took everything [local governments] submitted for local bridge projects that were submitted," she said. "Everything got funded."
End quote.
Everything that was submitted was funded. Who knew? Think there's any "padding" going on here knowing everything will be funded? No "wish lists" in there I'm sure.

Notice how much of this garbage is money used to "study" something? Pathetic. That's just some special people getting fatter wallets at our expense with nothing in return.
I don't remember seeing these items on the government website either. Oh that's right, it's not operational "yet".

I can see why the National Institutes of Health needs 7 billion in stimulus. With important studies like these, we'll all have better health in no time.
Partial quote:
But some questionable queries have come under close scrutiny, including a $400,000 study being conducted in bars in Buenos Aires to find out why gay men engage in risky sexual behavior while drunk; a $2.6 million study dedicated to teaching prostitutes in China to drink less while having sex on the job; and a $178,000 study to better understand why drug-abusing prostitutes in Thailand are at greater risk for HIV infection.
End quote.
Bad enough, but these studies are not even in our country.
One more clown that wants a second stimulus (First one isn't even 10% used yet). Oh, that's right, this guy works for the New York Times and ABC. What a shock.
Paul Krugman, remember that name. This guys an idiot. Then ABC has the nerve to put him on their weekly Sunday panel as some kind of "expert" who's opinion matters
With all due respect, I don't bash everyone who doesn't agree with me as an idiot or a clown. At least not unless, well, I just try not to.
Regards,
Keith
Neither do I, not everyone. But for a guy like Krugman, who's beyond partisan, I'll make an exception. He's got a national stage on which to speak, and he's asking for another stimulus.
Knowing how the first one is going, knowing it's not even 10% spent, knowing how much in debt we are, knowing that that the first stimulus isn't even designed to "create or save" jobs (in my view), you'd have to be an idiot to talk about another one.
We're not talking about a few bucks. We're talking about 1 trillion (interest included) dollars on the first one.
