Abortion

On this 35th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, I would like to share my views on the issue of abortion.

Life begins at the point of conception. No one can deny that after a human being is conceived it will develop into the very same being as those debating this issue. What astounds me is that those who favor abortion went through an identical development stage as the being they are condemning to death. Would these very same people agree that a similiar choice should have been made about their own existence? Abortion today is used primarily as a birth control of convenience because people are too self-centered to take precautions. They prefer their own pleasurable self-indulgence over the care and sanctity of the life they created. What ever happened to taking responsibility for one's actions in this country? Is it too much to ask a woman who has conceived to place the child into adoption? Nine months of discomfort is nothing compared to life in prison for voluntary manslaughter! Does the father of the child have a say in this? And what about the constitution of the United States? Are not all people conceived in this country deserving of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? I believe abortion is a crime against humanity and should be outlawed. We need to overturn the Roe v. Wade decision and get back to cherishing life in this country. For a country that murders it's children cannot be far from self destruction.

Re: Abortion

ABORTION: WHERE DO WE DRAW THE LINE?

I have my own PERSONAL set of criteria for when an abortion is ok:

*health risks to the mother, I work with a woman whose daughter if ever would become pregnant would die if she attempted to carry to term.

*rape & incest: self explanatory

*severe deformities based on medications consumed from mom of the fetus which would cause a miscarriage or still birth. I'm sorry but I do know women who based on the happenings around a pregnancy were advised from several MDs not to carry because of the above.

*stupid, super young teenage pregnancies (which should be followed up with mandatory education.) Again I know of GIRLS who were barely into adulthood when circumstances arise in which they were knock-up. I have to ask should your 8, 9 or 10 year old carry a child, when her body yet isn't fully developed?

Politically, I can not support the idea of the government making laws about the governance of my own body. For example what Supreme Court ruling of 1973 with Roe v. Wade decision.

I think so many people are against it because they do not understand all the different possible circumstances (they are uneducated on the matter), or because they truly believe it is wrong. They see it as murder. They do not believe in the free will of an adult woman. They worry about over using abortion. Abortion as opposed to the prevention of pregnancy.

...AJEs word: To fully consume this very controversial topic you must be able to understand the issue as a whole not from a single side.

I just thought I would throw out something to think about here....

My oldest daughter went to school with a very nice boy that always got great grades and was liked by all. His mom was a single mom that worked hard to keep them both in things they needed. She was a very nice lady and was oh so proud of her son. He was the light in her life.

The story here? She was raped and he was the result. She kepted him and loves him dearly. What happened to her was to her. But the child wasn't at fault.

But I do beleive everyone has to make the choice for themselves. This was just her choice. Of course there are many that know they simply could not raise a child from this experience but before turning to take it out on the child by denying the child to live...think about the many people that would love to adopt a baby and give the baby a chance at life.

The child should not pay for the crime of the father.

I am Pro-choice as well. Younger generations need to be reeducated on this subject.

Re: Abortion

There is a simple solution to the abortion issue.
Stock sperm banks now and then have all men sterilized at birth.
This would eliminate all unwanted or accidental pregnancies.
Then a woman can decide whether or not she wants to be a mother.
Other people and courts won't force the decision on her.

Re: Abortion

Life is not measured
by who we are
what we say
or how high is the bar

Life is not judged by any of us
by success or by failure
it should not be dicussed

Life can not be put on hold
frozen for a time
then released and controlled

do we have the God given right
to select who lives
and who gets the plight

and how would it be for us now
if Mary decided
she had the right to devow

if she decided by her judgement alone
no child for her
she had nothing to atone

if we do feel,we have the right
decide for ourselves
but give unborn child the same rights

Re: Abortion

Good point - If "Your" religion forbids you to have an abortion, then don't have one.
Please don't let "your" religion dictate my moral values.

Of course, of the 1.5 million women who have abortions each year non were christian.
