Hi, I’m just a regular at the bubbler community; I’ve been around for sometime now. Great place we have here in Wisconsin if I might say! I couldn’t stand being without the four seasons. Change is good!
So getting to the point, I’d like to introduce who I am. My name is Amber and this is me…I am a middle child who grew up in the tiny berg of Valders, WI. As a child I spent my entire time outside with my sister while my brother preferred the inviting indoor setting. My first punishment was because my sister and I trampled my mom’s corn while playing tag (which was just days from harvest). We’d always be bringing home critters for mom and dad. Use your imagination! My parents introduced us to the great outback at a young age. What an adventure, we’d always have to be a mile ahead of my folks (which depending on what type of danger was around definitely kept my parents in check) thus we were dubbed “Little Grasshoppers.”
I love everything to do with the outdoors. Today I take pleasure in such activities as hiking, canoeing/ rafting, horseback riding, gardening, fishing, and ATV. In the winter I enjoy skiing, sledding (come on your never too old), and ice fishing if applicable.
My family has nicknamed me Eagle Eyes, because I will pick out things, which most folks wouldn’t even notice. For example a few years ago, I traveled to Ecuador, South America on a work-study program. Now while in the Amazonas de Ecuador, I was the only one in the group to take notice of leaf cutting ants. Now what came to my mind is ”Wow these are the insects I’ve seen on the National Geographic Channel.” I just had to stop for a moment to study this amazing insect. No matter where I go you can count on seeing something whether it be unique plants, animals and yep also rocks.
Speaking of Rocks, I’m also a young geologist at heart. I love to interpret the layout and study our planet’s driving forces. Believe me Wisconsin has had its share of geographic development over the years. My idea of a vacation will include collecting a hefty load of rocks and or pictures. My home is loaded with treasures from these adventures; there is a story, which is told with each.
I’m a conservationist and animal activist as well. Over the years I have been active in preserving a number of species ranging from the small bats to our bears, wolves and eagles to name a few. One small difference goes a long way! Just look at how many plants and animals that we never thought would return to the Wisconsin woods have come back because of conservation and education. Yes, I do hunt game, but I don’t believe in poaching by any sorts. Someday I hope to settle down in a quite log cabin and create my own backyard habitat.
On my spare time I enjoy leisure bird watching. There nothing more tranquil than hearing a beautiful song. I have a goal to be able to hand-feed the wild winged friends by years end. New Year resolution I guess. I’m a pet lover; I guess you could say I’ve taken care of enough animals to open a zoo.
The last thing about me is I’m fascinated by our American History. But since I’m not cut out for teaching it’s more like a hobby for me.
So in a nutshell I’m a little bit of everything! It doesn’t take very much to amuse me either! I love who I am and hope you enjoy reading my profile.
