New member: davejar from La Crosse, WI

HI theBubbler!

I am 60 years old. Made a lifetime committment to my lifetime sweetie, Kathy about 3 years ago. We have 2 cocker spaniel dogs, and a 19 year old boy(Kathy is a widow). Bought our first house about 2 years ago. Kathy moved from Northwest Ohio to be with me.

I have a degree in Chemistry from UW-L(1976), and an IT-Programmer/Analyst degree from Western(2008). I have never held a job as a Chemist or a Computer Programmer.

I create puzzles for a living. I've also worked puzzles and won cash prizes from them. As a business, I have been running puzzle contests via the US mails for over 35 years, with a modest newsletter I put out monthly.

I am now also running a discussion forum online called La Crosse Chat. My forum baby is a little over 5 months old. Was born Christmas week in 2008. Dec 20th to be exact.

I am not sure I am permitted to post a "direct link" to my forum, so I will not do so at this time. My profile does have it there, if anyone is interested.

I love online discussion forums that are moderated(where the members are treated with respect), love politics, my Chicago Cubbies, Computer Programming, to name 4 more topics.

A trifecta of Welcomes...thanks dgridley, mod super...and another Dave?...love that name...I wonder why?

My site is a general discussion forum/board. We have 8 Sub forums, all the way from "Announcements", to "Politics", to "Sports", to "Religion/Spirituality", to "La Crosse/the Coulee Region", to "Puzzles/Contests/Games/Jokes"...etc.

The name of the site is La Crosse Chat. Most of our members are from the La Crosse Area, but we like some 'out of area' folks to make it an interesting mix of members. We are a modest site...190 members strong...and still growing 5 months into going live Christmas week last year.

OH, by the way, 'puzzle' makers still put their pants on 1 leg at a time.

My site is separate from my "puzzle creating" business of 30+ years. The site is a Potporri of topics...some serious, some goofy, some in between...

MOTIVATION FOR STARTING MY SITE: I had been a member of several general discussion forum sites over these last 4 years or so...wasn't happy with the way the admin and the mods ran them...and some of the members were out of control...in fact, several have shut down, because the sponsors had lost control of the site and didn't want liability issues, in case someone sued em...so I decided to start my own discussion forum here in La Crosse, WI, past home of Heileman's Old Style Lager (which I never liked, by the way)...

And the rest is history, as they say...but we are still a small site, hoping eventually to have a positive affect on the local area here in La Crosse...it's like pulling teeth to get local folks to join and even more hair pulling strain to have them post regularly, if at all....but we keep on keeping on....

What user name did you use to sign up for my forum La Crosse Chat? I don't see a "Latina" user name there. Perhaps you registered under a different name?

There is noone named "trueblue" on my forum. Perhaps you registered on someone elses forum? My URL web address for my site, should be on my profile page here.

Perhaps it was another board I signed up for. I believe it was called LAcrosse Forum, rather than LAcrosse chat & the owner is trueblue, but I never got my email verification from there.

At the top of the search engine should be a direct link to my site, La Crosse Chat.

Thanks head honcho for the warm Welcome! I run my own online discussion forum (less than 7 months old, and already over 15,800 total posts & over 725 total threads...got to 10,000 total posts in 100 days), so don't have as much time as I'd want, visiting and posting on this, or other forums...

BUT, I'll be here when I can find some free time...

I was particularly fascinated by your posting of total posts, total threads, etc,...etc... of theBubbler..in another thread in another Subforum on the Bubbler...I've done a bit of that myself on my site...

Hey, Dave, fancy meeting you here. I saw pk show up on lacrossechat and it reminded me that I haven't been here in a while. This is a great forum and I think you'll like it here. Lots of friendly people. I used to come every day but I've just gotten so busy that it got squeezed out of my routine. Just not enough hours in the day for everything.
