New to the Bubbler
Hello everyone!! I am new to this site, and looking forward to meeting people in Wisconsin. I am hoping to move to Wisconsin (Wisconsin Dells/Baraboo area) within this next year, as I currently live in Longmont, Colorado. If you ever have the chance to live in the "toilet of a state" known as Colorado, pass on that!
I am originally from the midwest, as I was born & raised in Burlington, Iowa. I stumbled onto this site, because my wife was raised here in Colorado, and wanted to meet/talk to some people back there before we move. Colorado and Wisconsin are like night and day of each other. We are surrounded out here by people who say eating meat is bad, because you have to kill the animal to do so.
Its just too weird out here for me, and the wife and I want to settle down somewhere and start a family. I turned on the TV the other day, and of the 30 minute news cast, the first 22 (yes, I actually timed it) was on murders (stabbings and shootings)! Who in their right mind wants to start a family somewhere like this.
As I said, I am from the mid-west, the small town of Burlington, Iowa. I know how peaceful it is in Wisconsin, as I have been there numerous times. The wife is the one who needs to be convinced of it. She is supposed to come on here later this evening and join. Well, talk to you all later, and its nice to meet you all.

Re: New to the Bubbler
welcome to the site, and hopefully soon to the state.
Ive been to Burlington a few times, pretty nice place. well, at least compared to other places I've been.
looks like you had made a pretty good choice on places to move, the baraboo area is really nice. really beautiful country, good Midwestern folk. many people from the southeastern county's of the state have moved to that area. the rest of us just wish we could move to that area. especially me!!
i wouldn't put all that much effort on judging a whole state by the news coverage though, many stations have taken the dirty laundry syndrome to new extremes. use Cleveland Oh for an example, all bad news, all the time.

Re: New to the Bubbler
Welcome to the best Wisconsin website! Glad you found us!
We moved here to Kenosha, Wisconsin about 13 years ago from across the stateline of Illinois. It's funny I did not think just 10 miles or so would make a difference but it did for us. I have totally enjoyed living in Wisconsin and glad we decided to move here.
I've been all around the area by Wisconsin Dells. It's a lot different from the Wisconsin area that we live in since Kenosha is a city of 90,000.. lol ... but if you want beautiful and more laid back pace of life, I would say you certainly picked a good place to move.
There still is alot to see and do in the area from all the fun in the Dells to fishing on a quiet lake. It's all there in the area that you are thinking of moving.
All I can say is you made your best first step by checking out the bubbler! Here you will have alot of great people from all around the state that you can either chat with on our fun chat room, or post comments with in our forums.
Please ask you wife to join us soon and see what we have here.
Hope your move here is a great one.

Yea, Burlington, Iowa isn't too bad! I never thought I'd say that, after living my first 23 years there, but it isn't. As far as the Colorado issue, it is one of the best states to go to for vacations, but its horrible living here. Being mid-western raised, I don't know how else to explain it. Its too fast-paced, always on the go, for me. Look forward to seeing you around.

Thanks for the very warm welcome! My wife (smilefrog) has joined, just a few minutes ago. She said she will post on here in the morning. See, living in her parents basement, we just have dialup internet. Her father wont let us have cable internet, because "it costs too much," regardless of the fact we'd be paying for it. She has little patience for the internet. I hope you guys on here can convince her of how much better Wisconsin is than Colorado! We both want the "small-town" life to start a family, and she is wanting to talk to people from there to see how "life really is" in the midwest. Look forward to seeing you around.

Welcome to theBubbler.com!
Welcome, and thanks for a great introduction.
The Baraboo / Dells area is outstanding. We (at theBubbler) have an annual campout in Wisconsin Dells. Hope you'll be there to join us.
Unfortunately, the 22 minutes of bad news, sensational news, and entertainment passing for news is all too common everywhere in these United States. If you're from Iowa, though, I think you've got a lot of the Midwestern values here, with more people and a more diverse geography.
Welcome to our online community and good wishes on your potential move here.
Regards,
Keith

Re: New to the Bubbler
I think you'll find the peaceful quiet and general good behavior of Wisconsin Folks in general to be quite acceptable.
The Dells can be a really busy area. I live in the eastern part of the state, between Lake Winnebago, and Lake Michigan. It's quiet enough here...plenty of elbow room, and cable internet.
By your username, I gather you are a musician. If this is the case, be sure to join us at WisMusic - Wisconsin Music and Musicians - For Wisconsin Musicians By Wisconsin Musicians. You'll be glad you did!
