Hi from just north of Madison
Hello from Karen and Mike from our little farm about 12 miles north of Madison. We stay quite busy here taking care of our kids, horses, dogs, cats, and parrot – there’s never a dull moment here - but it's all fun. As you can tell from our name, we’ve also got a little garlic growing hobby going on and even though it’s a LOT of work, we’re having fun with it.
We’re both originally city kids so moving to the country has been a HUGE learning experience for us. Thank goodness we have wonderful neighbors that guide us through and help us fix the silly mistakes we’ve made…..and there have been a few... ops:
We’ve both lived in Wisconsin all of our lives. We grew up at opposite ends of the state and then met in the middle. Wisconsin is such a great place and each season offers such wonderful opportunities for recreation. We love it here. (except for those days when it’s just too cold to go outside that is!)
As our kids get older we’re hoping to get them interested in some of the hobbies we used to enjoy like biking, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, skiing, and gardening so we can get back out there ourselves!

HI and welcome to the Bubbler!!! You will enjoy it here.
What sort of parrot do you have? I've got 2 CAG, 1 U2, 1 B&G, 1 conure, 9 tiels, 9 keets
(5 skunks, 21 coons, 5 kitties, 2 ferrets, 4 potbellied pigs, a dog, 3 domestic rats, 8 bunnies.......mmmmm and I'm sure I'm forgetting someone)
Do you need a wonderful potbellied pig for your farm??

Welcome! So glad you found your way here on the best Wisconsin website.
My husband and I both were born and raised in Illinois and we decided to move here around 14 years ago and love it in Wisconsin. There is so many great places to see and do around in our area.
With everything it sounds like you are in to lets hope you can find time to check out the forums here and leave posts and tell us about your farm experiences sometime soon.

Thanks so much for the welcomes. I do hope to find a few free minutes here and there to start exploring the forums.
It sure sounds like you have your hands full Carol! Aren't animals wonderful though? Our parrot is a Blue Front Amazon.
We'd better pass on adding a pig to our list of creatures though. One of our horses seems to have an irrational fear of pigs and seems to believe that pigs are actually mountain lions in disguise. (or at least that's the impression I got one day when we saw one on a trail ride) I've heard that potbellied pigs make wonderful pets though. I did meet one once at the vet's office and he seemed awfully sweet.

Welcome to the Forums!
Welcome to theBubbler Forums, Karen and Mike!
That's a great introduction ~ hope to learn more. Opposite ends of the State...which ends? Met in the middle...school?
Nice website. I borrowed this from your home page to further introduce you:

Everyone always seems so surprised when they hear that we grow garlic and it seems that we're always answering with, "yes, we grow garlic, in Wisconsin, and it's really great too." And after they try it, they agree. So, we've decided to create this site to tell you about all the fantastic garlic that we grow here on our little farm just north of Madison, WI. We've been growing garlic here for 7 years now and we really have a lot to talk about!
Please take a few moments to look around our brand new site. We'll be telling you about the many varieties of garlic we're currently growing, adding photos, sharing recipes for garlic and garlic scapes, and telling you about how we grow our garlic - just in case you've ever wondered about how garlic is grown or if you're looking for tips for growing your own garlic in a cold climate. Plus, we'll let you know what garlic we have available to share after the annual harvest in July and we'll let you know when the garlic scapes are ready this spring.

That was from http://www.WeGrowGarlic.com
Thanks for a big intro ~ hope you'll be here often. I think you'll be a great voice in our Wisconsin Forums.
Many happy returns.
Regards,
Keith
