Thanks for the welcome!
Bean, I have seen many unique lighthouses......but the most oustanding one, but not my favorite...is Sullivan Island. It is triangular in shape and has an elevator! Go figure!
The most adventurous one I have been on is Sapelo Island GA....that was a boat ride over to the Island, and a rickety bus trip to all of thier historic spots before we arrived at the lighthouse. They live really simple lives there, and vehicles do not have to be registered...hmmmm.
Bald Head is another trip in a boat, and this on Island vehicles are NOT aloud..only golf carts. From the sound of this though, you can imagine what type of communtiy it is......which is not for me. I just enjoyed the light.
I hosted Lake Superior Lighthouse trips the past 3 years, and have also enjoyed trips on the east and west coasts. I travel solo a lot of the time and now with my GPS I can get to many I have overlooked.
I have climbed and photographed about 400 lights so far. I have assisted in hands on refurbishing of one on the west coast, and have had fund raisers for several here in
WI.
I have just recently returned from winter shoots up in Door Co. I do like taking photographs of these lights in the winter, and last year I was up in the UP of MI doing winter shots when they had 3 feet of snow.
