http://www.dingsdock.com/ features fun trips down the Crystal River in a mini fiberglass excuse for a canoe.
The trips are a ton of fun. Be prepared to be wet!
Kids should be at least 8 or 9 if they're big for their age and are swimmers comfortable with the water. Call ahead to Dings Dock to be sure.
All adults, especially plus-sized, should be ready to flip their (excuse for a) canoe numerous times because you will take on water here and there. Most of the fast water is only a foot or two deep. A couple of six foot holes, too.
Picturesque.
There's a small ford where a little dam gives you a nice swimming hole. On the other side you can stick your head in past the water rushing over the several-foot-high dam and breath and talk behind a foot-thick wall of water.
You'll find this a great family trip, teen trip, scout trip, older adult trip and just plain fun trip. I've done it a half dozen times and want to go again.
Regards,
Keith
