Keep the Parkland - Expand the Parkland!
Waukesha County Executive Dan Finley sure got it wrong when he proposed studying the sale of the county golf course, Waunakee, at the southern edge of Menomonee Falls.
The entire county is growing so quickly that area leaders need to step up and take action now to retain some rural character. Milwaukee County is great because of the forward thinking of Whitnall and others. I planned and hiked the entire perimeter of Milwaukee County as a 10-year old kid and only had to cross about 3 streets. It would be nice - more than nice - if Waukesha County had the foresight to expand public greenspaces to make a greenbelt. Keep the bugline, keep the golf courses, expand lake access to the public and grow a greenbelt so kids a generation or three from now can hike our county without hitting streets and sidewalks.
