Add-A-Link adding up!

There are 8856 Links and 1086 Categories in our database

Just approved about a hundred additions of links in our Wisconsin online guide and directory.

AJE - Amber - is by far our Add-A-Link queen.

Got about 115 links left to review at the moment; sorry for the delay because I got behind. Should have these all caught up by next weekend.

Well, all except for one link that I want to research further.

Exhausting. Typos, lack of contact info, people submitting several times, correcting categories, looking up what town a site is in, and what county the town is in............................the list is endless.

Some people from out of state try scamming and spamming our add-a-links, too!

Oh well, good to see a lot of return visitors - no doubt coming back in response to the email that is automatically generated saying their link has been added!

Maybe you could run over the list for those that may not know what 'links' are, or what you accept, or how or what members can add, etc. That may help some that have questions as to what this is all about. Or do you have this somewhere on the site? Not sure if I ever thought to looked for it before....

Thanks for putting up my link. I'm guilty of getting it in the wrong category. Sorry about that. I scrolled up and down the list when I was submitting it and I just didn't know where a community portal site would fit. "Community" was the closest I could find but I guess you wanted it in forums.

I've been working lately on the area directory for my own site and trying to decide on categories and where to put things is always a pain.

I'm impressed with the number of links you have. You're not far off 10K! I think I have 4, if you don't count the parks section. LOL!

Please note that my own numbers may jump...My Member name in the way olden days was 'kk' - I had added a couple of hundred under that Member name and hope to get them under my current Member name.

Former Users should jump up, because we'll be deleting accounts for people who haven't logged in for a year or more.

I know nearly everyone on the list, 'cept I'll have to check out 'CJ' again.

For quick reference, our criteria for links is pretty simple: legit and family-friendly and Wisconsin-related in some way.

When I was doing the add-a-links, I followed the same criteria we use for classifieds, so no MLM, get-rich-quick, online-casino, gun, drug, etc etc sites either. If I'm not mistaken, Keith does too, right?

Keith, regarding any links not under a valid user, odds are they have been moved to Former Users. Do you remember any of the links that you added under KK? I can't find any with that name in the database, but if you remember any of the links, I can go see what it's under now.

Yep, pretty much the same.

One addition in both classifieds and add-a-link is the local Avon or other such dealer. I group the add-a-links for them.

Some early clients - many early clients. The names all came up when someone else registered as 'kk'. I think one of the links was BadgerPlug.com.

Yeah, all the early links are under "FormerUsers" and "MJF", whoever that is. The previous directory system didn't ask for the same information we do now, so the submitter was put under "name" or "email" in the current system and "submitter" was left blank, and all of the blank ones have been converted to FormerUsers. I couldn't find any with "kk" that haven't already been attached to your current profile.

I did find a number of links that aren't properly attached to their user though because they were added to the old directory and not transfered in a way that kept them associated. I'm trying to fix all that before we go to the new software so we don't have any problems with unassociated links.
