Classified ads on the Bubbler

Why do members leave their ads on the bubbler long after they have sold their item(s)? We have the same issue with people at work who do the same thing on our factory Swap-Sheet. It would be considerate for them to go back and delete their ad and save other's time writing or calling to inquire about what they are selling. Thanks for letting me vent a little frustation and have a great day!!! Stewman20

Unless someone calls the person and finds out if the item is 'sold' how can a person tell when looking at the ad?

Just one time did I get all excited about an ad for something I was looking for and I will say that I noticed that the person did write a little note saying the item was now sold. Thought that was great.

I have an ad on for a good boat for months now. I leave it on simply because so far I have never received one phone call or email asking me about it. Maybe when a person sees that it has been on for a long time they just assume it is gone?

So I'm also just wondering, what is the answer to this question?

Classified ads

When I am looking for something in particular on the classified section, I will not even bother with ads that are a couple months old as I am assuming that it is no longer available. If I ever put an ad on the classified section, I will either go back to update every so often to let buyers know it's still available or delete it when it's sold. That's being considerate I think.

Good suggestion. Thanks.

I will check on my ad and see if it is still running and update it. Guess I never thought to do this before. I would know to take it off if it sold but to let everyone know it is still for sale...well very good idea.

People that have placed classified ads should be receiving a weekly email that lets them know their ads are still active and reminds them to take them down if the item has sold.

guess mine expired since it is no longer there...and thanks for the info about the weekly reminder. Can't remember getting any but I get so many emails I may have over looked them.

Will post my ad again more towards the Spring since it is a boat, and will watch it much more closer this time.

Yep, every Thursday an email goes out to all people who have an active ad that tells them they have an active ad (I know because I send it myself!). I can understand forgetting to go back and delete it if you've placed it on several sites... but come on! You get a reminder every week!

If I knew the answer to the original post, we wouldn't have items that have already sold still in the classifieds

well it's a good thing we have you to let us know to pay more attention. It was my first ad and guess I forgot about it more than anything. Will do better in the future if I decide to put an ad back on. Will also check the weekly reminders.

thank you,

Oh bah! PK, you said you didn't sell your boat yet, that's a great reason for the ad to still be up. I more meant "you" in the general sense, meaning everyone who sold their item but left the ad up for another year. I didn't mean you specifically

actually that was meant in a good way...it IS a good thing we have you to remind 'us' as in 'all of us'. lol

TYPO here. I should have said WHEN I decide..blah..blah..not IF.
Of course I will put another ad on sometime...it's FREE and it gets alot of coverage. lol

What you are hearing is frustration on not selling the boat not towards you or the classifieds. The boat is bugging me. We wanted to sell it in the Fall and I put it in papers all over KENOSHA and LAKE counties...as well as on several different websites including this one. We only received two phone calls from Illinois and neither person came out to see it.

It really is a decent boat, under 400 hours on the engine, etc...had a good price on it too. But Fall is not the time to sale. So will try again in the Spring. But who knows, maybe I'll just put it back on the bubbler's classifieds...after all I certainly don't have anything to lose since it is FREE! great deal.

What I find annoying is when you contact someone and never recieve a reply.

I always check now to see when the last time that person was seen online,, and if it was the day they placed thier ad, 2 months ago,, then I dont bother replying to it.

Topic moved...

Yes - these are some pet peeves of all of us.

That is why -

1) This thread has been moved from "silly questions" to the Water Cooler

and

2) I'm locking this one down to re-direct you to the same subject here

Regards,
Keith
