DVD creating software
Hello all,
I am in need of some help, and am hoping someone here can provide it. I am looking for a good software to create my own DVD's. I have a ton of home videos sitting on my computer ready to be shared with my friends and family. My only problem is that they are stuck on my machine waiting to be burned onto a DVD, and I have no idea what I should be using!
What I want is something (preferably open source) that can burn my home videos (which I believe are in AVI format) onto a DVD. I would also like to be able to build a menu and that sort of thing. I am running a Windows XP machine. Any suggestions? Even if you can tell me ones you've tried and hated, just so I know what to stay away from.
Thanks for any help!

You have one on your PC already called Windows movie maker. It works pretty well. other commercial brands are Magix movie edit pro, Sony Vegas (vegas is sweet for movie editiing), and cyberlink DVD producer. Otherwise you could also try a direct burn, and burn the files as they are. most dvd players can read avi mpeg xvid and Divx files. If you have qyestions on software or anything drop me a PM or email

Re: DVD creating software
When did Windows Movie Maker get the ability to burn DVDs? Is there an update I missed? It couldn't do that last time I looked at it, but that was some time ago.
