What virus and spy programs do you use?
I am running Zone Alarm, Spybot and Bug Doctor for my Spyware and Virus protection.
Still thru all these I still have stuff sneak in and mess up my computer.
I opened an email from someone I know and my sensors started going crazy alerting me to everything.
I cleaned it all up....but now I"m having issues where IE will just start opening up new screens over and over and over.....At one point it managed to open up 72 screens before I just hit the OFF button.
I run all my scans again and nothing is getting picked up. Go back into email and here we go again so I had to shut down using the OFF button and start over.
So any clue what's up?? I can't find smart kid to fix this for me.
Carol

Carol,
That sounds more like a "pop-up" problem as oppossed to viruses or spyware. Sometimes blocking pop-ups causes other inconveniences, so sometimes it's a matter of learning what sites, or type of sites to avoid.

Re: What virus and spy programs do you use?
I use Avast, Spybot & Ccleaner. I have my pop-up blocker set to med and so far (knock on wood) I haven't had any problems with anything.

Re: What virus and spy programs do you use?
First try using FIREFOX as a browser....that sounds like what I used to get on IE..since using FF have not had it since...
Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable
you can keep IE but use FF as main browser..some things are only seen on IE....and on FF there is an option to view site on IE... as well as built in Pop up blocker..as well as ability to have several tabs on same window....awesome for my PTS sites..
I have Deluxe Shield (The Shield Deluxe) for AV....
Spybot, Spyware Blaster, Lavasoft Adaware, and for backup AV
Protection against Malware like Trojans, Worms, Dialer, Spyware in one program! a-squared Anti-Malware (A2) and Mamutu - Malware scanner and remover software
a-squared2 the free version...
another good freebie is AVG Antivirus....
AVG Free Advisor - AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
THIS: Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit
is really cool..free dwl'd and it tells you everything you have on your puter and if things are working right....good to have if you ever need help with puter say if it freezes up and have to have it repaired..
THIS: http://savemybutt.com/
is a somewhat local forum (Chicago..weds night heard on WGN Radio 720AM..website Wednesday nights...st 11:30 PM) folks can call in and ask ???, or join the forum and one of the folks there can assist you ....also FREE....they have been real lifesaver for me a few times!! Good Luck!!

Re: What virus and spy programs do you use?
I build my own computers for surfing and gaming, and for the last 4 years i have been using nothing but freeware to keep my computer safe, and i have had zero problems. I use comodofor my firewall SSL Free Firewall Two Factor Authentication Products from Comodo, then AVG, AVAST antispyware, and mcafee site advisor. I also run ccleaner once a week to pick up the leftovers
