Great idea for a forum topic... now my question...

Any idea when solid state hard drives will be available/affordable? I hate the idea of "knowing" my hard drive will crash sooner or later. I do backup, but never as fast as the new information I've put into the spinning disk. I know the technology is here, just wondering when it'll be on the market for us average consumers.

That depends on what you call afforable.
I found two software products worth noting
one is Paragon. This tool is very good but I am sure expensive. It has helped me reformat, repartition drives without using dos. As I stated before I am getting dos deficcient and lazy. This tool alos looks at surface quailty not to mention other disk integrity functions.

The other one is easy migrate tool that will clone a drive to a new one. Note the drive Mustbe the exact same space.

If all you are concerned about is data then run back-ups
but remember you should defragmentate you drive on a periodic time frame to maitain a more optim drive and the less seek time the better as like anything the more you work , the faster it will wearout.

I did a Google on this and found this as the first link.
8 gig for 263.00 wow that is pricey.

I am not sure but solid state hard drives should be more sensite to static.
