Marie Watt is a contemporary artist of Native American descent. She draws on indigenous design principles, oral tradition, personal experience, and Western art history to create art that is distinctive, evocative, and rooted in human stories and everyday objects.
Watt will discuss her work and the exhibition, "Blanket Stories: Compass," which can be viewed in the Wright Museum of Art (Beloit College) daily except Monday, 11 am - 4 pm through Dec. 16. 2007
