BROWNS LAKE INFO
This is a nice lake, one containing some nice Largemouth Bass, lots of small Northern Pike, good numbers of nice Crappies, and a zillion stunted Bluegills for the kids. Mike Lewandowski, Manager of Reinemann Sport, Pet, and Outdoor Center in Burlington (414) 539-2919, says you can take the Bass along the shorelines with spinnerbaits and plastics, and the area off the broad point/channel on the west is especially good. As the water warms, you can also take Bass in the channel. The Crappies, he says, are chiefly taken through the ice at night. During the summers, there’s a waterski show on Saturday nights. It’s surprisingly good, says Lewandowski. Take Mom and the kids.

EAGLE LAKE INFO
This lake weeds up heavily in the summer, and, as a consequence, can be difficult to fish. It’s worth the effort, though. Mike Lewandowski, manager of Reinemann Sport, Pet, and Outdoor Center in Burlington (414) 539-2919, says you’ll find Northern Pike up to 42 inches here, along with good numbers of 19- to 21-inch Walleyes and nice Largemouth Bass. Summers, fish toward the center of the lake, wherever you can find a clear spot; throw toward the weed edges. White spinners seem to work best, says Lewandowski, along with weedless-rigged worms. There’s great ice fishing for panfish at the 6- to 7-foot level along the lake’s west side.

Fishing has been good the past week both up in Lincoln, Island and washinton parks for lots of browns, doing better in the lower river for steelhead along with the harbor.

Stopped to visit family and decided to get some conditions for the Root river. We stopped by the fish weir at Lincoln Park. The DNR employee there said that the USGS web site stream flow info is a good indication of fishing conditions. They display a map of the state, just click on the Root River. He said that 300 CFS is ideal. The river is currently at 900-1200 CFS. Rain falling in Milwaukee cause the river to rise to unfishable levels in Racine 24 hours later.
