From Milwaukee to Madison

Hi Friend,
I am planning to come milwaukee for a postdoctoral position on september 2006. For my stay, I am looking for an apartment close to Marquette Campus, Zip:53233. Is that an expensive area?

Moreover my wife had done her Masters in French at Paris. She is looking to do her PhD program in French. I noticed that, French PhD program is handled only in University of Wisconsin-Madison and not University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Is there any mutual agreement between madison and milwaukee university where we can enroll at madison university and study at milwaukee. Alternatively, how for it is feasible to travel between Madison and milwaukee every day? Is that time killing and expensive trip?. Thanks in advance for your reply.

I do not know the answers to your other questions, but it is about and hour and a half or two hours (depending on traffic) between Milwaukee and Madison, maybe a little more between the colleges because they are both downtown. It is not a bad trip if you only do it a couple days a week, but I would not want to drive it every day. Gas is very expensive here too (over $3.10/gallon), so I believe it is probably an expensive trip.

What are your degrees in? Are you teaching at Marquette or studying, or both?
