Bridge Lifts and Railroad Movements for July 4
Recreational boaters plan ahead! On Monday, July 4, 2005, City of Green Bay lift bridges will not open for pleasure craft between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
In addition to the above restriction, the Port of Green Bay is officially closed to ALL water craft (freighters and pleasure craft) between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. However, Bridge Tenders are authorized to use their discretion to open lift bridges on July 4 as follows:
Mason Street Bridge - may open all day dependent on traffic and pedestrian conditions
Walnut Street Bridge - may open all day dependent on traffic and pedestrian conditions
Walnut Street Bridge
1. Midnight (12:00 a.m.) until 9:00 a.m. – will open for all water craft
2. 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. – will not open for pleasure craft
3. 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. – will not open for any water craft
4. After 11:00 p.m. – will open for all water craft
The City realizes that the July 4 holiday brings many boats out on local waters. These restrictions are established for the safety of the Celebrate Americafest event. The City thanks boaters for their understanding of this issue. Please circulate this information so the boating public can plan their river trips accordingly.
