What a little sweetie, so cute how she gives kisses.
MOO-MOO...is an adorable BLACK AND WHITE MUNCHKIN. She is 5 years old, spayed and 4 paw declawed and has a short, easy coat, pale green eyes and weighs around 7 pounds. She has the short little legs of this breed and is really quite the crowd pleaser according to her foster mom. She reports that Moo-Moo, "Is 100% PERSONALITY! She goes crazy if you pet her and stands up on her little legs to reach up and give kisses!" She is active and playful and just a HOOT. She gets along well with her roommate CARRIE (see above) and would probably be fine with other easy-going cats. NO dogs please. Older children would be fine. FOSTERED IN MILWAUKEE, WI.
Wow! Two great breeds in one! a LaPerm and Munchkin. Bet she is just a cutie.
CARRIE...is a sweet BLUE MUNCHKIN/LA PERM CROSS. She is 6 years old, spayed and 4 paw declawed. She has the incredibly SOFT, slightly wavy gray coat of the LaPerm and the short little legs of the Munchkin, making her a very unusual gal indeed! She has bright green eyes. Carrie only weighs about 6 pounds so she's a small feline as well. She is an extremely affectionate kitty who always wants to be where her foster mom is...usually within paw's reach! Carrie and her roommate MOO-MOO (see below) lost their home when their owner moved to an apartment that didn't allow pets. A relative tried to keep the cats but her dog wanted to eat them so it wasn't working out. Carrie took the move from her home very hard and is initially shy with new people and situations. But once she settles in...look out! You've got a love bug on your hands! Carrie is moderately active and probably will be fine with another easy-going cat that would not dominate or bother her. The best home for her would be quiet, cat experienced and adult. No dogs or small kids please. The reduced "mixed breed" adoption fee applies. FOSTERED IN MILWAUKEE, WI.
FLO...is a lovely LYNXPOINT HIMALAYAN. She is 2 years old, spayed and front declawed and is growing out of a neat "lion cut." She has bright blue eyes and a lovely "doll" face. Flo lost her home due to owner allergies, but she has done very well in foster care. In her original home she lived with 5 and 7 year old children and really enjoyed them. Her foster mom reports that she is very affectionate, loves to be held and can even be held upside down like a baby in her arms, just purring away. Flo is outgoing, calm in nature and adapts easily to new environments. She has been great with the cats and dogs in her foster home. This is a kitty that would be great for any family experienced with the maintenance needs of a long-haired cat or dog. She's just a fluffy sweetheart! FOSTERED IN MADISON, WI.
We have moved this thread to Mods Only and will be closing it, but we wanted to let you know why. This thread has become very long and the information gets quickly outdated as the cats are adopted. The images are also being pulled from the rescue's site, which we have banned in our Terms of Service because of copyright laws.
LinksToThePast and I appreciate what you're doing, and we have wanted to take many of these cats home ourselves! As much as we want to help these animals find homes, we want to avoid rescues (and breeders) starting threads and posting animals week after week.
If you want to continue posting the new cats, you can post a classified for each one in the Cats for Sale category. If you have any questions or comments please let us know.
Since I was the member that started this post I would like to add that I did not realize I was doing anything incorrectly. Especially since it has been on here for such a long time. I also want to add that I stated from the beginning that I had written permission from the recsue site to add pics/information so I did not think there was a copywrite problem.
Yes, it has been long but I did however try to keep it completely updated as to removing any old pics and adding if a cat was adopted.
Please accept my apologizes if I did anything incorrectly on here. I do have another website that allows this if anyone wants to continue to add comments, or follow the many cats. The website is: goflo.com.
Links and I both decided to close the post more for the location of content than anything. We would prefer that all animals, for sale or for rescue, be posted in the classifieds. We've noticed an increase of members posting items for sale in the forums and it takes a lot of administrative time to close or move the threads.
If we let one thread continue on cats for adoption, we open up the argument that all rescues, breeders and animal vendors should be allowed to keep a running tab of their animals in the forums. We spend hours each week deleting puppy mills and pet scams in the classifieds. Our goal is to keep any animal ads in once place to make moderation easier.
We moved the thread to Mods Only to notify all Mods participating, and to open group discussion on the topic. It wasn't to publicly reprimand anyone, it was a group notification on a policy change.
Another concern for us is duplicate content. Search engines frown upon sites having duplicate content. If we are replicating content from the rescue site, it could put both theBubbler and the rescue in a negative light when search engines come to visit.
Again, it's not a "bad" thing. We use the Petfinder box on theBubbler and I post a "Pet of the Week" on my WisFolks.com blog every week. If there's anyone rooting for homeless pets its Links and I (with one dog, seven cats and various fish between our homes... all rescues or strays) but we also have to do our jobs as Mods and Admins to keep consistency on the site and administrative costs down.
You weren't doing anything wrong. This is a new policy we implemented because it is opening the door for a whole lot of administrivia which Kristen and I simply do not have time to deal with.
On a daily basis I delete anywhere from 1-15 inappropriate forum posts. most of them are things that belong in the classifieds. The website is optimized so that people looking for pets find them in the classifieds. Quite frankly putting these listings in the classifieds will give the shelter far more viewers because that is where people are looking for animals.
I also think putting legitimate sheltered animals in the classifieds will attract more shelters to add their animals. It would be nice to see the site filled with non-puppy mill animal type resources. I for one am sick of deleting inappropriate seller ads.
Thanks for the heads up and the feedback here pk, kris10 and links.
I look forward to (time allowing) taking a few minutes tomorrow to talk.
One suggestion, sticky / closed threads (I think we have some) admonishing forum viewers to use the classifieds.
And Patti, like everyone said - you aint done nothin' wrong! I can see where the practice encourages others who aren't as excellent as you at keeping up a thread to post stuff, too.
I too can certainly understand that others will feel they can come and start similar posts such as 'forever homes' and not keep it updated. I did not consider this when I started this. Actually when I originally started this was not only to bring awareness to the cats but also so I (we) could discuss different ones...such as the pointing out different breeds (munchkins? lol), or a sad story about the cat (found in terrible condition), if the cat was beautiful etc...it more or less escalated.
I do however wish I was contacted before the thread became so long and I had put a lot of time up dating etc. Over 200 posts and 5500 views was a long time before it was decided it should not be on here.
Anyways, not a big deal. Like I said, I can certainly understand and appreciate the need to keep things in order on here. I do think I will at least at this time pass on putting them in the classifieds. Like I said it was taking up a lot of time and it's time that I can now work on other subjects.
Please accept my apologizes if I did anything incorrectly on here. I do have another website that allows this if anyone wants to continue to add comments, or follow the many cats. The website is: goflo.com.
Thanks,
Patti
I didn't read it as you doing anything wrong PK... I just read it as it's gotten too big with pictures..... and not wanting all sorts of rescues to think it's ok to post pets for adoptions.
I've enjoyed the Kitties and will go check out goflo.com I never heard of that site.

Thank you Carol. I do miss adding the new kitties on and wish the removal didn't happen. I felt as if I was really helping the cause of this rescue in our area here. But I do understand the need to remain more neutral to all rescues etc.
I do wish that perhaps a mention in the cat section of this rescue, pr maybe a topic in one of the sections where members could add their favorite rescues in their areas and a link but not add anything actually from the website? That would give a way to mention all of our great area rescues without actually bogging down the website and worries of not having pictures and info outdated.
I love that we have several members that are involved with rescues through out our state. I personally wish I could some how help each and every one. If is wasn't for rescues many of our wonderful animals would never have a chance.
All of this of course brings me to wonder how long Kelly's plight for her rescue will be able to continue on this site? With all the many comments/views on this subject and all the pics from her site is this another that should be looked at? Just wondering. As much as I feel badly for Kelly I am surprised that others haven't come on asking for donations for their cause.
Anyways, like I said, I do miss adding the cats on and have hopes that maybe somehow we can help bring awareness to our rescues through out the state ...maybe just not in the way I was doing with the pics etc. lol Until then I will move on to other subjects. Anything new in mind?
(Carol....goflo.com is a much smaller hometown website that I also am on from time to time. A very good friend of mine is the founder. The forum is small but is growing. Please feel free to post any pics or information about what you do. You have many great stories to share. And of course for the time being I will be adding the cats on that website. And of course you could always go directly to the cat's rescue site to. )
Interesting that you brought up Kelly...because after reading thru the decissions on why to move your kitty stuff I happened over at kelly's thread. That's a very large thread and it asks many times for donations. Show's pictures. It's a very sad story.
I stated that those of us who choose not to rescue the "traditional" animal are always put on the back burner. If I were saving dogs and cats I'd get better recognition and dontations. But I save the "uncommon" animal. The one no one listens to or cares about.
I've been told by several that my article in the WI State Journal brought much criticism to the online part of the paper...big reason why I went out and purchased many papers for myself in hard copy version....so I wont see all the nasty negativity because I choose to save and rehab wildlife.
What my article didn't tell anyone is this has been a horrible year for rehabbing. Raccoon Parvovirus is reeking havock out there this year. Not "regular" parvo, but F-strain Parvo. It's much more vicious then parvo and kills real fast. I have had to figure out how to come up with the $$$ to buy the meds at a total of $823.00. My formula has run me $1600.00.
All the new caging I had built earlier in the year had to be burned and destroyed due to the virus ~ 3 cages / $350.00 each set on fire and destroyed to kill the virus that lived in each cage.
Tomorrow I head out to Neenah to pick up a donated cage from a rehabber who has left the business. It's a dog kennel type cage, so if virus strikes again I can flame it clean... She wanted $200.00 for the cage until she heard of the devistation here this season. So now I can use that money towards gas and borrowing someone's truck and borrowing a trailer from Lad Lake.
I agree that Kelly's story is very sad. I have spent many hours writing/phone calls trying to find help for Kelly. It's insane that people that are simply trying to help animals have such a difficult time doing so.
It's terrible what you have had to go through also. I wish there was a way to bring more awarness to rescues such as what you do Carol and that of Kelly's.
Further awareness would be great. But when you "step outside the box" to help an animal that people dont consider "normal" the help slows down tremendously.
If it was sick puppies with parvo that I had been treating all spring and summer long I know 100% I'd have had so much help and dontations pouring in...but because it's "only raccoons" no one cares. Had it been puppies I have had all the antibiotics I needed and all the cleaning supplies needed to keep up with this horrible killer. Kelly is having the same problem because in most peoples eyes it's "only fish"
Today's society is such a throw away society...animals included. Everyone moves too fast. No one stops to listen and smell the roses any more.
I have choosen to help wildlife and the "non-typical pet" and to that a price follows me around forever as long as I"m trying to help them.
.... I do however wish I was contacted before the thread became so long and I had put a lot of time up dating etc. Over 200 posts and 5500 views was a long time before it was decided it should not be on here. ......

Contacting you would seem like an appropriate courtesy, Patti.
Sorry you weren't contacted before the thread was moved. It's hard keeping up with all we keep up with - but then again it's our job and you're kind enough to put a lot of time in as your avocation.
Thank you for all you do, and please pardon us for not giving you and your efforts more consideration before making a decision affecting you and one of the longer, more successful threads on theBubbler.
I'm still learning how best to admin and mod and I hope we can make something positive of this.
Regards,
Keith
btw, one thought that comes to mind is the pk site... Seems like a couple of our first ones are used for rescues, so it isn't a novel idea.
Just a thought:
I think a permanent link from the forums to a blog for rescues (much like the thread you did) would be appropriate if you chose to persue such a blog. I'm looking for the time to get a bunch more of those up - and to monetize them with google adwords.

Oh now there is a good idea. PK you could run the kitty rescue posts off your wisfolks website and have a link here to the wisfolks. You can fit LOTS of stuff there. I have not even began to take up space.
