Next year's theBubbler camping trip will be June 6, 7 and 8 of 2008 at Dells TimberLand Camping Resort in Wisconsin Dells! We hope all of our mods can make it!
Mods and their families camp free, we just need to know how many are coming in your party to reserve sites and get food ready.
Camping coincides with the Dells TimberLand chili cookoff again. This year Gilbert Brown and Santana Dotson will host the cookoff. Info on this event is being updated at CampingForACause.com.
We'll post more mod-specific camping info to this thread as it becomes available.
Sounds fun but it's the worse time for us. End of school time is always full of grad parties, or goodbye parties, or something going on with the kids, but will keep the date in mind.
I'm checking in on this now that we're getting closer to June (doesn't seem like it with this cold weather)! Can anyone confirm that they are or are not coming to camping yet?
I'm sitting here looking out the window at big huge snowflakes coming down feeling like I'm in a globe and someone shook it all up. lol Thinking about camping that is getting closer is a good thought. Sorry to say that I won't be able to make it though but will think of everyone having fun that weekend.

I'm still only a maybe. All depends on my pet sitting schedule and how many baby coons I'll have to bottle feed.
Carol
I'll be down on Friday and stay threw Sunday. Not sure who'll be in attendence with me yet.

Just checking in again on Mod attendance for the camping trip. I can't believe it was snowing when we last discussed it!
AJE, do you know how many will be in your party? Have plans changed for anyone that may have opened up that weekend? Carol, I figure you won't have a free weekend for a long time!
We are still confirming some events so the posted agenda may be altered. We have to confirm a fun event for Friday night which means we won't do a potluck after the pontoon ride. We're leaving more time open between activities so people can go out on their own to relax or enjoy the Dells.
We made it back from camping safe and sound, though not particularly dry. We got hit with really bad storms on Saturday and had to ride it out in the rec hall at the campground. Luckily the chili cookoff was done when the storm came. Despite the weather we had a good time.
This weekend seemed to be a really busy one for mods and staff this year. A lot of people had graduations, work or weddings. Some mods have suggested a fall trip. What are your thoughts on making this event better attended? Is is the weekend that's bad? Gas prices? People aren't in to camping anymore? The Dells is too far to drive?
My husband and I had our pop-up stolen the day before the trip, but we stayed in a hotel. That worked out well considering the weather! I don't think we'll be replacing the camper anytime soon, but the hotel prices in the Dells were not bad because it was early in the season.
I also noticed how the Camping for a Cause events get you up close to the Packers, I think a lot of people don't know how fun these events are.
Any suggestions on this or other Bubbler events would be appreciated!
I can't speak for others but the first weekend in June or any weekend in June is just bad timing for me. End of the school year always has lots of parties, dances, end of the year 'goodbyes', for our kids and for me getting flower beds done, yard work, the list goes on and on. Then the b-days start. One on the 13th, 16th, and the 29th with Father's Day thrown in the mix. We also try not to miss our Farm Breakfast in our county which is the weekend with Father's Day each year. Then we have the 4th of July after that and my oldest daughter's b-day on the 11th. ON top of all of that we have orchestra and swim competition, practices and usually our own vacation put in there somewhere. Last year we put our vacation off until August and that worked better.
Fall is always a beautiful time of the year. I've done a lot of camping in the past in Spring/early summer and Fall and there is always something more fun about the early Fall. Maybe that would be a great time to try next time?
Maybe posting a few pictures on here showing what the camp weekend was like for everyone, what fun was had by all, some of the activities, etc may be the ticket to generate additional interest??

We'll have video and photos soon from the chili cookoff. We should have taken more before and after storm photos. When we were there, so was Lake Delton! Not so today!
