A deserted Victorian boathouse sets the stage for this story of an accountant from St. Louis who wishes to convince a skeptical country girl that her family will approve of their engagement.
Charming and unyielding, Matt Friedman refuses to accept Sally Talley’s fears and hopes to prove that they are two kindred spirits.
The original Broadway production was winner of both the 1980 Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award as best play of the season.
