I drive past the lake each morning after dropping my kids off at school. I love taking pictures of the lake during any season but I think Winter pictures offer so much since the lake is ever changing with ice and strong waves.

Up front you can see rocks but further in the middle of the photo what appears to be rocks is actually large ice formations from the deep freeze we had not long ago. The pounding of the waves sometimes goes right over the top and makes for very large and high waves crashing back down.

This picture was taken early. You can see the sun rising above the clouds which makes for a beautiful sun rise finishing up.

When looking at the lighthouses in the summer you would normally see all blue waters of Lake Michigan. This shows all ice/snow formations covering quite a bit of the waters by the shore.

I used to live on Lake Ontario and one of my favorite time was winter and looking out the back at the lake ice and the way the waves would create these huge ridges.. we used to walk along them as kids. Of course, there were a few times the back of the house was sheeted in ice and the front was covered in huge drifts of snow!
