Yesterday and Today

After looking and searching and mulling it over and rehashing I recently made a decision to buy a new digital camera. I am hoping I will like it but time will tell.My decision was to keep it simple so I did not need to drag bags of lenses around with me,just a camera.
my choice ? a Canon SX10IS becuse it has a movable screen like a video camera and will help me take low and high shots easier. It also has a wide angle 28mm in 35mm equilancy.

I have driven by this farn most days on my way to work. I would prefer to have taken this shot at a differnt time of the day and I will eventually.

I title this yesterday and today becuse I wanted to create an old and new look at the same place.

I processed the shoot through Photoshop elements v3.0 and the made the old shot with Photoscape.
Both were reduced in size with Fastone.

Thank you for the compliments.
I do like the canon camera but you know as they say the more you spend the better the equipment.

I am sure they have an improved model by now.
What I like is the ability to get low or high shots with out laying on the ground or stepping up on a stool. The rear screen moves around like a video camera. The camera also came with stitching software to join shots into a panoramic style but I would say that Photostich is a much better application for panoramic shots.
This camera also takes video but only in .mov format. That is not a very easy format for translating or merging with other formats. I dislike the word codec ,why they make those plug-in so mysterious to apply?
The part I really like about the camera was it has a very wide angle to telephoto lens. When I was using 35mm I had multiple lenses and they made carrying them around very cumbersome. The flip side however is that my lens is not as sharp as I would like it to be but then it would have cost a whole lot more.

Well it's been awhile John since you posted about your new camera, how do you like it now?

BTW, I miss the photos you use to post for us!

I have not used my camera much but perhaps I will this summer.

For those of you who have been to Spring Green ,WI. and took a tour of rank Lloyd Wright's TALIESIN, here is shot taken at TALIESIN WEST, Scottsdale, Arizona in the Spring of 2010. This is the entrance to the theater. The place has deteriorated over the years and is probably beyond restoration. He was wayyyyyyyyyyyy ahead of his time.
