I agree, that's one of the reasons I haven't bought a digital camera yet...
Although I'm lucky cause we have the Nikon D-40 at work... so if I really feel the need to shoot digital, I can borrow that...
I just got my first point and shoot 2 months ago, I never use it... I got it as a free hand me down from my brother-in-law, which is nice... I intended on using it for animation, using it like a higher quality webcam, but it's an older camera... and that webcam ability isn't there... so I had to buy a webcam, which is much lower quality then I would like.
Canon just released the XSi, which has the ability to use as a webcam, but still a little bit more then I can afford right now.
But the convenience is nice...
And it's nice to be able to shoot a lot more, and know that they will all turn out...
On the other hand, the artistic element is gone, you are forced to decide BEFORE you snap the photo whether it's going to be worth shooting or not. Every photo counts...
On a family vacation recently, I actually said No to taking photos of family members in front of waterfalls or by a statue, because I had to pay to have my film developed, and my sisters all have their own digital cameras, and they can be used to take the silly photos...
So I say you have to think more about what you are taking pictures of... but the positive aspect of digital is you can experiment a lot more.
