lol lol I feel as if I'm being tested here and I"m going to answer wrong! lol
just kidding..
I really like the beach picture the best I think..and don't get me wrong..I like all of them.
But the beach picture seems as if it is endless solitude. The clouds also seem to hang so close as if you could almost meet with them somewhere down the beach...
I think I like the 5th one because of the difference in depth and shades of the greens as you look towards the back of the picture through the 2 trees.
If you talk to the animals they will talk to you, If you do not talk to them you will not know them. And what you do not know you will fear. What one fears, one destroys. ~Chief Dan George. (1899 - 1981)
Just noticed in the bottom of the beach picture to the left of the stick you can see a foot print. Looks like this person had to use the stick...got better...left the stick. lol lol
This reminds me sometime ago on one of these forums that I mentioned it would be fun to have a bubbler photo contest. A theme could be picked for the month such as 'summer' beach scene, close up of rain drops, fall leaves/color etc...
Then all the pics (no more than 2 per person) could be submitted maybe someone at the bubbler office could pick the best 3-5 (depending on how many pics come in)..and everyone can vote on which one should win for the month.
No great prize is really needed but the fact of the winning and maybe put in the bubbler news would be fun.
Thank you one and all for your valuable input. The Photo contest is at The Kohler-Andrae State Park. The deadline is Saturday 9/1/07. Results will be in October.
Which ones did I select?
Well I printed them all out in the required 4 X 6 format using our epson printer.
Based on how they looked upon printing I selected the following.
Boardwalk
and
Birches
The beach shot was too contrasty, weak in the sand area.
I should have taken with the either less shutter speed or more apature.
I used to do step up and down shots but stopped a while back now I wish I wouldn't have. I also should have brought something to lay on and tok this one from a prone position.
The grass in the sand shot just did not do it all for be in print, way too weak.
I guess of all the boardwalk shots I liked the longest one the best. Like the Great Wall of China.
If you are interested ,all these shots were taken with a 35mm Nikkormat ftN using a 21mm lens and ASA 200 film. I prefer wide angle shots. Looking back I should have bought some ASA100 for less graininess.
oh and the exposue settings were set based on what the film mfgr reccomends for the scene I do not use the light meter.
The birch shot was taken because I thought the texture and extreme debarking was interesting and I never looked beyond the trunks until I saw it on my monitor , the surprise was how well it came out in print.
This shot was located on the same stip as one of the others and was scanned at the same time because of that. It completely surprise me when I viewed it .
I will keep you all posted on the results if any.
Thanks again
Keith I also like Birch trees in fact I just planted a Crimson Birch in my front yard this spring. It will take a few years to get to any size but it will have the white bark with leaves the same color as a red maple.
