These were all taken at Henry Villa's Zoo in Madison last summer. Great place to go.

Another fun Zoo we like to visit alot since it is close to Kenosha is the Racine Zoo. It's smaller but we always have a great time when ever we visit. Over looking the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan with a Band Shell for concerts, picnic area, and nice park for kids as well as many animals, Racine Zoo is always on our list each summer.

And last we have the ever fun monkeys...this one seemed to have enough of us taking pictures and offered a hand gesture that I did not notice until later when viewing the picture! lol

Great photos pk
The first thing that came to my mind when reading your heading was this song and I actually heard it in my head.
Now think of the fun you could have adding captions to those photos.

Someone told me
Its all happening at the zoo.

I do believe it,
I do believe its true.

Its a light and tumble journey
From the east side to the park;
Just a fine and fancy ramble
To the zoo.

But you can take the crosstown bus
If its raining or its cold,
And the animals will love it
If you do.

Somethin tells me
Its all happening at the zoo.

The monkeys stand for honesty,
Giraffes are insincere,
And the elephants are kindly but
Theyre dumb.
Orangutans are skeptical
Of changes in their cages,
And the zookeeper is very fond of rum.

Zebras are reactionaries,
Antelopes are missionaries,
Pigeons plot in secrecy,
And hamsters turn on frequently.
What a gas! you gotta come and see
At the zoo.

A very old Black and white from a Day trip to the Milwaukee County Zoo.
I am not sure how many I have of these but I do recall taking at least one trip a year to the zoo with my children. They always loved it and I think if you got there before a certain time that the entrance fee was free. 8)

Photoshop is an amazing piece of software along with my scanner that is capable of scanning negatives. The magic of digitizing can remove flaws I could never do otherwise.

Your mention of negatives made me remember that somewhere I have 'glass' negatives I found under a table in a box at an estate/garage sale one time. I have no idea what to do with these negatives. Have any ideas?

Look for a in-house photofinisher, they should atleast me able y to make contact prints so you know what they are. They may even be capable of enlarging. I think there are some photo restorers advertising on theBubbler. You may want to contact one of them too.
I find it sad there there is no one left from that family that would treasure such items. Yeras ago I went to an auction where they were actaully selling old family photos. That turned me off so much I never went to another auction. and that was a very long time ago.

how can you see your future
if you can't see your past
what has already been
your shadow it will cast
your ancestors will point out
which way to go
if you ignore them today
tomorrow what will you know

I understand completely. We go to estate sales and see family photos all the time. Sometimes boxes of pictures, or even albums. I can't believe the family would not want these. I also can't understand the attraction that people have in buying these family photos except for the history of the background/buildings, and/or the clothes the people are wearing. That I can understand since my husband collects stereo view cards for the history. But many times at sales the pictuers really aren't that old (for history) and they have them out for sale. Go figure.

I bought the glass negatives mainly because at the time I never saw anything like it before. Thought they looked really interesting. Love old things and it's always fun to come across something that you have never seen before.

Thanks on the tips of what to do with them. I'll have to get them out someday and do something with them.

I would suggest that you ensure they are stored in a cool, dry place. I also would suggest thay not be stacked in contact with each other and that any seperator is archival material. Those scrapbooking places know what you need. or if they could be held ina tray like the slide projectors do. something that manitains minimal contact. Ask an expert before trying to clean them yourself.

I like old stuff too. When I was young I wanted to own it all now I would much rather see it in a museum for all who enjoy it, to enjoy it.

You should see me and my wife in an antique shop. She is completely through the shop and I am still at the 1st display.

That is just the opposite for us when grocery shopping!!!

Another Summer...another ZOO trip!

Yesterday we decided to visit the RACINE ZOO which is the next city north of us. I have gone to this zoo since I was a very young child and no I won't say how many years ago that was! lol

But I will say that the place is lacking in animals. Each summer we make at least one visit to this zoo since it is not only close but my kids love going there. But sadly each year we see less zoo animals and production on the 'changes' they keep saying they are working on seems to stay the same.

This also is the very first year of the history that I know of that they started charging a entrance fee. That is disappointing in a way since now you feel they owe you more than a few animals and a run down look. Before we felt compelled to offer a donation since we felt the 'need' of the money but it's funny how now they demand a fee and you want to help less. Doesn't make sense. lol We skipped the trip to the gift shop and buying soda drinks and brought our own lunch. So it seems they made less on us. Maybe they should keep it free with the donation box and bring the money in some other way by offering more at the gift shop or food court.

It's funny how people react to simply things. Oh well..on with some pictures.........

Always have to visit the giraffe. This year seems as if she had a cold and kept sneezing but that did not stop her from coming over and posing for pictures! lol

The monkeys are always a blast to watch. Especially at chow time! Well in this case I think it was a mid afternoon snack.
