B&W are always good looking photographs. I think they open the imagination as to what the scene would look like in full color.

Well I have to make the comment that even though B&W pictures can be totally awesome I feel they do not always' make "good looking photographs". I have many times turn my color pics into b&w just to see what it would look like only to be vastly disappointed in the outcome. Sometimes things just simply look 'lost' in the picture as black and white, that actually stands out more with color that I quickly turn the picture back to color.
Try it with every picture you take on whatever photo program you use and see the difference color can add to many of your pictures. I do however agree that B&W pictures can add a certain density, and depth, a certain visual concept that makes you stand in awe of the photo when used on the proper picture for it.
As far as it "open the imagination as to what the scene would look like in full color", I would rather see the picture in full color if that is what would make the picture look it's best rather than use something that will make me want to imagin what it COULD look like. Same with the other way around. If black and white will enhance the picture to be it's best, then I will use that and if it is the best choice for the picture then you will never want to imagine what it would look like in color...
whew...lol, just my thoughts.
